Photobucket was being a PITA uploading photos today but finally got it done!
So yeah... yesterday we went to MK for the day since I won tickets to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party for that night.
Got to the park around 10:30am and raced all the way back to Storybook Circus as a friend of mine is "friends" with Goofy and told me the night before that Goofy wanted to show me his Great Goofini trophies and told me what set times to stop by. I made it just before the end of the first set and Goofy was SO happy to see me! Seriously one of the best character interactions I've ever had in recent years. He even personally escorted me over to see Donald afterward!
Went over by Mermaid but it was down at the time.
With that out of the way, stopped for an early lunch at Pinocchio Village Haus. I like getting the kids meals at the counter service restaurants when there's a good variety because I don't like stuffing myself full while at the parks, plus it's cheaper. So I got the kids cheese pizza, which came with grapes, strawberry yogurt and a drink.
Duffy immediately commandeered my lunch.
After lunch and a quick stop to see Pooh & Tigger, we headed to Tomorrowland. Carousel of Progress was closed because they were filming scenes for the movie "Tomorrowland" that Brad Bird is directing. They had a bunch of extras in 60s period costumes as some scenes apparently take place during the 64-65 World's Fair. It was pretty cool and I snapped a bunch photos ans tweeted some out (and my Twitter subsequently exploded with a ton of retweets). BTW the movie comes out May 2015.
Took a ride on the Peoplemover while killing tome for my Space Mountain Fastpass and lucked out getting the front of a train.
Silly bear. He loves trying on various hats and headwear.
Bow ties are cool... but this is is a little too big.
Buzz Lightyear was doing meet & greet in a kind of hidden back corner of Tomorrowland as his usual meet & greet area by COP was being used by catering for the movie crew & stuff. As a result his line was really short so we jumped in to finally add his autograph to the book and so Duffy could get a photo.
Hanging out with Brer Rabbit in the Hub.
Got a Fastpass to check out the Jingle Cruise (standby wait was nearly an hour), but we never got around to checking it out.
"Nope! Not going on that! Not getting wet! It makes my fur smell and it goes all poofy!"
Also picked up a Big Thunder Fastpass but never used that one either! Oh well.
We rode the train from Frontierland all the way around to Main Street.
Caught the tail end of the 3:00 parade as it stepped off from Main Street (instead of Fronteierland like it usually does).
Finally it was time to use the Christmas party tickets (you can get in starting at 4pm with them even though the party doesn't officially start until 7pm). Duffy changed into his Christmas party outfit. I had so many people ask where I got it or if I made it. All from BAB (except the boots, which are from his TDS Home Sweet Christmas costume from 2011).
While waiting for the castle lighting show to start, Duffy spotted one of his "cousins" nearby so we went over to say hello and snap some photos.
After the castle was lit for the night, we went to the Main Street Bakery for some Starbucks (my friend was buying as a "thank you" because I gave him one of my extra party tickets). Duffy watched as they made the drinks.
Duffy! That's MY cinnamon dolce latte!
The "snow" on Main Street during the party is pretty cool. It's just soap bubbles but it really looks like snow flying around in the air.
During the party there are several treat stations throughout the park where you can get free cookies and hot cocoa. The cookies are snickerdoodles and are actually pretty decent (we brought 5 home with us! )
We ran into some MORE Duffys! I was amazed and impressed with how many Duffys I saw in the park yesterday. Saw most of them during the Christmas party (and they were all dressed in their holiday finest) but saw a few during the day as well.
Duffy loves the castle lights. So do I. I took so many photos. So beautiful!
More cookies & cocoa!
While waiting for the 2nd parade, I got a bucket of popcorn to munch on. They had these cute Santa Mickey buckets that were $12 but the one we got was cute too and only $5.25!
After the parade (I'm normally not a parade person, but I love the Christmas one), we went to Fantasyland and took a spin on the carousel. Duffy loves that he always gets his own horse!
That is one happy bear!
Mary Poppins, Bert & a couple penguins were doing meet & greet behind the carousel. They were fun. The penguins actually fought over who was going to hold Duffy for the photo! That was so cute and funny! I love the penguins. Sadly the photo didn't turn out good (the CM was standing too far away - no idea why they don't try to get closer sometimes).
We then took a spin (literally) on the Mad Tea Party. Wheee!
Went back and rode Little Mermaid. I like the ride. I don't get why get it gets so much flack. By the time we were done it was almost midnight (the party ends at midnight). Made one last cookie stop and then headed out to Main Street.
Can't get enough of that castle!
"But.... I don't wanna go!!"
"NO! WANNA STAY!" Sorry Duffy... the party is over and the park is closed. I didn't want to leave either.
We finally got home around 2:00am and promptly zonked out. It was an exhausting but really fun day!
kittyloaf-I have that same outfit! I love it so much! I adore reindeer, so it was a must!
aimster-great pics! I can't wait til MVMCP. We aren't going until Dec. 12th. Saving it for our Anniversary outing this year.
We went to DHS and Osbourne Spectacle of Dancing Lights last weekend, but I've been sooooo busy at work this week, I haven't had time to upload pictures. I'll get to them eventually!
Sorry I missed you at the party Aimster. There were alot of people there last night. I agree with you the castle is so beautiful with all the lights. We went on the Jingle Cruise. It was pretty much the same but with alot of corny Christmas jokes.
That's what I've been hearing, Poohkat. And yeah there were a lot of people there. I was running around with some friends for awhile, then branched off on my own for the last couple hours of the party.
I stopped in a Disney Store last night, looking to see if Duffy had ANY presence. I saw nothing, so I inquired. In the giant area of stuffed animals that is in the back of the store, I saw no Duffys. The CM walked over and moved some other stuffies out of the way and found some Duffys. They were buried!!!
I was quite surprised that they had 12" naked bears. They had a few 17" bears as well. Overall, there were probably 6 there. I asked about larger bears and she said there were none. All the clothes, which were on clearance, were in the back room.
They were having a sale on stuffies as buy one, get one for $1. There were 3 teenage girls there looking. One had some tacky alien. I told them that if they were going to buy anything, they should buy Duffy. They came over, thought he was the cutest, and commented on how soft he is. The one said, "If I buy one, I can get him for $1?" I said yes. I withheld a comment that she should buy Duffy as her main and the ugly alien for $1.00. Doesn't really make a difference.
Although I walked out without making a purchase, I was proud to have spread the love of Duffy.
