    Duffy coming to Disneyland Paris

Several Disneyland Paris message boards are reporting that Duffy will soon be coming to the park. It's been reported he will be out meeting guests at Christmas. Despite discussion previously that he's a failed concept outside of Japan. I just don't see why Disney would bother to continue to push him if his merchandise wasn't selling well enough. He's also recently been introduced to the Cruise lines and I wouldn't be suprised to see him pop up at the new Hawaii Resort when it opens in August.

We were sent over there with the message that only we would defend Disney quality.. We learnt quickly that the Japanese culture speaks to a level of quality that is hard to comprehend. They were all unbelievably skilled and willing to do the right thing.

That picture is adorable, and his French costume is so cute! I hope they release a version of that. It's cuter than the one EPCOT got...

I have a friend who is a CM at DLP (he posts as DLP_Bopazot here on MC) and he told me awhile back he heard Duffy was coming to Paris soon and he's quite excited about it too.

I know we're talking about DLP here, but on a related note, does anybody know how Duffy is doing at HKDL? It's been a long time since I've heard or seen anything about him there. Are they still selling costumes? Is he still doing meet 'n' greets on Main Street? Is he popular? I'm asking because I'm curious if he can take off in Paris too...I sure hope so. I know Duffy will probably seem more for kids in Europe, but maybe I'm wrong.

From what I know, the teddy bear is a cultural symbol in Europe kind of like how it is in Japan... or something like that, so hopefully he'll do ok over there.

That picture was from a special Meet and Greet in the Disneyland Hotel at Disneyland Paris (was taken by me); however, he isn't out regularly in Paris yet. We were told there would be Duffy merchandise soon and they would be using that outfit for at least some of the merchandise.

Here is another picture of just Duffy

Thanks, Jon! That's exactly what I was looking to know.^^ I do like the Parisian version of the French costume; the beret design is really cute, although I liked the American one too. Still, being from DLP gives this one some kind of extra authenticity. ...Although I may still like the US one...that single ear poking out is too cute!

Also, as far as I can tell, most Europeans (especially outside of UK) seem to be even more of the "teddy bears and toys are FOR KIDS!" variety than even the US. I think the sensibility that would allow you to walk around with teddy bears in the parks here in Tokyo would not go over as well there. I think there may even be open mockery... I dunno... It's just my impression that such kind of activity is frowned upon for adults. I'd love to hear from Parisians/Europeans on this!
