Oh, geez, first with the "custom' bears, and now this...

    Duffy "custom" pins.
    That's right, pins.

Disney Duffy Bear FLUFFY Pins- All 2003 COLORS -8 PINS! | eBay

This seller has customized the "sitting sailor Duffy pin" to be different colors and apparently they have a fuzzy feel to them.

Would y'all shell the dough to get some of these?

At least the seller is stating they're customized and not "ZOMG ULTRA RARE!!!" and making you think this is something Disney themselves did in a very limited run or something.

And... I have to admit the brown one actually looks halfway decent and kind of cute. I wouldn't buy them, just saying.

I get where you're coming from, but think of it this way... there's obviously a buzz about Duffy to get people to do stuff like this. They wouldn't do this for products that aren't popular.

We're just smart enough to not waste our money on it.

Yeah, I am happy that Duffy is getting attention. But my pin purist side tells me this could possibly cause commotion. I frequently encounter clueless moms and dads who will buy something of the sort thinking that they're giving their kids something "ultra-rare" or whatever. It does clearly state that they've been customized but I even see obvious fakes sold for an expensive prices, and upon discovering the pricey fake, the owners are livid.

I just think this trend is so funny - everything is getting a dye job!

Yeah. I'm not really into the whole pin thing. I have a few pins I like, but not many. I do have the sitting sailor Duffy pin as a friend of mine who's a CM at WDW got me one. The only pins I kind of collected are Tigger ones (because Tigger is my fave Disney character). I got them all in a box in the other room.

I also just have a few pins @-@ If the pink one wasn't so expensive, I'd probably be tempted :P

But yeah, they're one of the sellers who did custom stuff from the beginning so no surprise. They've at least been making it more obvious that they're customs. Though, I find it interesting they're spreading to accessories and other merchandise featuring Duffy rather than just the bears themselves.

What's next colored Duffy hats? as long as the seller doesn't imply that they come that way from Disney then I'm guessing no harm? I hate to think people buy these and think this is something of Disney quality and maybe it's not.

The closeups of the pins show that the added fuzz isn't that well done, especially on the pastel colored ones. You can see the brown underneath. Still, at least she's being more open about them being custom, and hopefully people bid accordingly.

I don't collect pins, but wonder if people have made other "custom" Disney pins besides Duffy? I just wonder what the pin-trading community would think of that.

Janell - I saw a purple Duffy ear hat the other day!

Gurgi - Yeah, I really think that it's a dangerous hobby if you intend on trading them. People get very serious about trading fakes, even if it is obvious.

That's one reason why I don't trade pins... people get cutthroat about it. I went through that in the 90's with Beanie Babies and said never again.

You know, I still have boxes of those Disney beanie babies...I need to sell them or something. I don't want them anymore, and to be honest, a lot of them were kind of ugly, LOL. Now, they sure don't sell for anywhere near what I paid...such a waste of money. Oh well, I've gone through phases like that in my life. Luckily pins was not one of them.

    Already been done, actually XD

As for pins, I'm always shy when trading things in general, thus why I always just get a few I like. But it's true, people wouldn't be happy about it, however, some collectors do like having customs once in a while, especially if they're done really nice.

I kept the few Disney ones I really liked and sold the rest in a yard sale. What didn't sell was donated to Goodwill.

Oh wow the hats are already done! Guess I'm not quick in the new idea department. lol

I too have a box of Bennie baby's I need to sell. lol

Yeah pin traders are ver serious about trading and Offical pins. My guess is those people know these Duffy pins are fake and all should be ok. At least I would hope so.

I wonder how well these items are selling? Someone must be buying them, other wise the seller wouldn't be making them.
