We briefly talked about this in another thread that it was coming. Well... he's there!
A friend of mine is currently in London and he told me he popped in a Disney Store there today and saw a lot of Duffy stuff. I just went on the UK Disney Store site and it's gone live. Right now they're only offering the 17" bears and a few costumes that you can get at the US parks.
BUT...
There is one BRAND NEW item I'd never seen before they have available:
Mickey Mouse With Duffy 44cm Soft Toy | Duffy | Disney Store
This is actually quite cute! I'm going to try to talk/beg my friend into picking one up for me.

). That Duffy looks just like a dressed up badge bear, and his hat is printed with that logo as if he's worried no one can ever remember his name. Mickey's shoes are almost a perfect copy of a pair from one of the old regular costumes and his feet seem oddly small, especially with those gorilla hands. I can't stand when Duffy is presented as just a prop for Mickey.
Especially as I slowly come to almost maybe accept a little bit that outside Japan it may be difficult for people to understand Duffy directly and on his own terms, this is an image of Mickey that, while not matching the quality in terms of either design or construction of the TDS Cape Cod/My Friend Duffy Mickey plush, still manages to maintain a "Duffy" aesthetic. It feels more authentic and less generic, even though the quality — and pricing — are consistent. It's not Tokyo Duffy, and really what it is is Mickey, but ironically it's not "not Duffy." It honestly leads me to think that maybe it really is as simple as they "get" Mickey and just really don't understand Duffy. In any case, and even though this is much more a Mickey product than a Duffy product, its existence makes sense and it doesn't look heartless.
