    Duffy Pins

Has anyone gotten into trading cast members for Duffy pins at WDW? I traded for a few during my last visit and now have about 10 total. It was a really fun way to interact with the cast members and hear about what they loved about Duffy. I won’t be able to visit enough to get the full set, but it was a fun side project while I was there. Is anyone else trading for pins? Does anyone have the full set? How long did it take you to amass the entire set?

    Re: Duffy Pins

I have almost the full set. The only ones I'm missing are Uncle Sam Duffy and Chef Duffy. It took me probably a few months but I live right near DLand so I'm there all the time. I bought some of them from members of the pin trading site I'm a part of. The hard part is so many of them have been counterfitted so it's hard to get a whole set of real pins, not impossible but difficult. The counterfit or scrapper pins often look a lot like the real deal though so if you're not super picky and you just like the fact that they are Duffy, you may not mind.

Not a pin trader. I used to buy certain pins I liked (mainly Tigger ones), but lost interest. One time last year though I found a lost pin on the floor of the monorail (I actually stepped on it and it was stuck to the bottom of my shoe as it didn't have a back). It was of Yzma who is not my cuppa, so I traded it for a green Figment pin. I have 2 Duffy pins (one in his sailor suit & one in his pumpkin costume).

A friend of mine is an avid pin trader though as well as a Duffy fan and if she sees a CM with a Duffy pin, she'll stop and trade if it's one she doesn't have yet.

Do you mean Yzma from Emperor's New Groove? I her, and that whole world!^^

Do they not have Lost & Found at the US parks? Here, you can take found items to any Cast Member and they'll get it to Guest Relations on the day it was found, after which it will be stored by the Lost & Found division for — I think it's three months, maybe six. I have lost so many things so many times, including most recently my Annual Passport after the CCC/New Year's shopping trip. I didn't even notice it wasn't in my wallet until the next day when someone called me from L&F to tell me that a guest had found it near the Aquasphere. I once left my Cybershot in the Broadway Theater, or it fell out of my bag there or something. Got it back, too, also from a guest turning it in. I also turn in lost items whenever I see them, for future karma! Most places at least will keep items for at least a couple weeks, or take care of reporting it to the police if it's valuable so that the "finder" doesn't have to deal with it if they don't want to.

I am always amazed at this aspect of Japanese culture. I lost my nearly new iPhone 4 shortly after release while on the train home from climbing Mt Fuji. I had no idea where I lost it. "On the trains or in the stations somewhere between Fuji and Saitama…" But within less than a week of reporting it to the police, they called to tell me it had been found. Still in a fairly expensive Yoshida Porter pouch case, and still with a couple seeds I'd collected in the zipper pocket. That's the most impressive one. But I've gotten back mufflers, other phones, and my wallet with ALL of its contents several times. I'm kind of a klutz, so I can't imagine not having Lost & Found at a place like WDW. That's just crazy!

They have Lost & Found in the US parks. But like I said I stepped on this pin and it was stuck to my shoe. I kind of have the "finders keepers" mentality when I find little things like that. If I had found someone's camera or phone or something like that, I would have turned it in. I'm not that shallow.

Phew! I'm glad they have a system. With all the horror stories people tell, I never know what to think.

Is it like here, where you can return lost items to any Cast Member, or do you actually have to physically go to some Lost & Found office or Guest Relations?

And to keep on-topic, the only Duffy pins I ever really "had to have" are the old posing series and a few of the first "hat" series because I loved my "Village Greeting People" joke!

We do have Lost and Found here but it's a matter of whether people turn in the things that they find (not talking little stuff like Aimster's pin but big stuff like cameras, phones, etc). We got off of the Mark Twain boat on Christmas Eve to find our stroller missing. It was a case of stroller mistaken identity since there was an identical stroller a couple strollers down from where we parked sitting there when we found ours missing. We had some miscellaneous contents in the bottom like a sweater, my Minnie Mouse Santa hat, small stuff like that and we went to Lost and Found to see if any of it had made it there and they had nothing.

BTW, Duffy D, did you ever get those Duffy "Village People" pins you were looking for? If not, let me know which ones you're looking for and I can try to track them down for you.

The pins are easy to lose! For some reason the backs don't like to stay put. I've lost a few and found a few and figure it will all even out in the end.

    Re: Duffy Pins

I once dropped my Duffy Halloween pin in the parks. It was pinned to my purse, and I just happened to brush my hand up against my purse to check that the pin was there -- and it was gone! A helpful CM saw me looking around at the ground and helped me retrace my footsteps with his flashlight (it was nighttime) until I found it

I'm not into pin trading, but I do like pin buying (hehe). I don't have a lot, some non-Duffy pins, a few of the Paris Duffy pins, and the Duffy pins that have been released at Disneyland. I don't have any of the Aulani or WDW pins, or any of the CM Duffy-head pins. I have looked at the Duffy-head pins on eBay, but I haven't been that motivated to buy them. I also don't feel like trading for them, although I bet it would be fun to track them down. I suppose I'd have to buy some pins that I wouldn't mind giving up, cuz I like all my pins!!!

The Mickey head backers aren't great for keeping pins on a lanyard. I carry my lanyard in a bag if I plan on trading with cast members since I've had a few pins fall of it before. They do make locking pin backs but I would only use those if I planned to do a "theme lanyard" of my favorite keeper pins for showing off at the parks.

I actually found that finding the current Hidden Mickey pins and even the chasers isn't too difficult since lost of traders likely get them in a mystery pack, and have no idea who Duffy is, and unload them to a cast member right away. Is there pin trading at Tokyo Disney? Are there ever any Duffy/Shellie pins? I'm trying to decide if I should invest in collecting them or not.

They have safety backs that stay on really well! They sell them in bags of quite a few and they work really well! (Especially if you have children with pins) They also make safety clasps for all their jewelry! Just ask a CM where to find them! They are great!

I have 2 Duffy Pins, one the 2012 Epcot of Baker Duffy and the gingerbread house that was recently my avatar and I bought the pumpkin dressed Duffy on eBay. We were given a Cinderella 2013. It isn't my style. I think the pins are extremely expensive and wouldn't get into the trading habit because of that.

Boog: did you ever get your stroller/stuff back or did you just keep the other?

Pin trading is not so popular at Tokyo Disney. Hong Kong Disney has a lot of Duffy pins though. I actually got a Christmas pin released from WDI (Walt Disney Imagineering) with both Duffy and Shellie a couple months ago! To my knowledge, it's the first time Shellie has been featured on a US pin.

Oh and ILG, we never got our stroller back.
