Re: Arrested Development

Hmm I dunno...not diggin it again...it just seems so different than Season 1 to me, I dunno why. I guess I'm just used to the more normal plots and George Sr. being in jail. Still a funny episode though.

Re: Arrested Development

The last two episodes have been layered with so many inside jokes that it's hard for newcomers to step in and watch.

That said, I cracked up the entire time. I can't wait to buy Season 2. They should have done what Lost did, and put out the DVDs before the new season started. Lost picked up millions of new viewers that way!

Buy-curious. Awesome.

Coo-coo ca caw!!

Bob Loblaw....can't wait til next week!

Re: Arrested Development

Still my favorite show on TV.

If you haven't seen the show, give yourself a treat and buy the Season 1 DVDs. It is like candy; bet you can't watch just one.

Re: Arrested Development

Season 2 Dvd is top of my birthday list!
Here in the UK we're halfway thru season 2, but it's shown v late and moved around the schedules at whim, so I gave up and am counting the days...
Might start "getting hold" of season 3 now in readiness.

Re: Arrested Development

Was there an episode between last week's premier and last night's that I missed? Or were the two episodes last Monday or something?

I kind of feel the same way you do. I still watch the Season 1 DVD and laugh from beginning to end.... Season 2 to me was a little less funny, and so far with episode 1 & 2 this season I find myself laughing even less.

Which doesn't take away from the fact that I'm still laughing more at AD then any other show I watch.... Every time Tobias says anything I crack up....same as when anyone does their version of the chicken dance.

And you know I heard the Brad Garrett reference and totally cracked up, but just thought Brad Garrett was a very random actor to name....I missed the fact that it was a dis on their Emmy competition. That makes it even funnier.

Then what was with the abundance of story points in the "previously on Arrested Devleopment" bit that were definitely NOT in last week's episode?

Yep, we feel the sameish. I watch the Season 1 dvds all the time and theyre always funny, I just can't pinpoint what it is about the new seasons that make it feel different. The kids being older is def a factor, and Lindsay looks different as does Tobias, his mustache looks less real...I dunno.

Can you give me an example of a plot point that was a WTFer? I watched the episode this morning at 7am, but nothing sticks out in my mind that I was confused about........I might have not been entirely awake...

The episode with the cabin was the season premeire, right?

Re: Arrested Development

I'll have to go back and watch again to get specifics. As is often the case, even if you skip an episode, you're never really lost while watching Arrested Development because they continually do the flashbacks, but it seemed that the beginning of this episode was not contiguous with last week's. And there were whole scenes (that I can't remember now) in the "previously on" that I never saw.

Re: Arrested Development

^ Bacon-

They film and edit in scenes every week in the "previously" and "next week on..." just to kind of make fun of themselves...they've done it since the first episode, its why i love the show so much.

I know they do...it just seemed like a lot more extra material than usual.

Re: Arrested Development

Bacon....I went back and rewatched the beginning and totally get what you're talking about now. The part about George not going to prison & being on house arrest, right? Yeah, don't know where that came from. Maybe it was supposed to be in the premeire and got edited out.

Re: Arrested Development

Okay, I'm not crazy, yay! Yeah, the ankle monitor threw me. As did the suggestion of scenes where Gob was hiding from Steve Holt. The last episode ended with him JUST finding out, but by this episode, he had alrady apparantly spent time ducking him. Big chunks missing.
