"Development" finally "Arrested"

""Arrested Development" will wrap its third -- and likely last -- season on Fox next month with a two-hour swan song slated to air opposite the Opening Ceremony of the Winter Olympics. Fox has decided to package four episodes of "Arrested" and air them as a two-hour season finale from 8-10 p.m. on Friday, February 10th. Scheduling the broadcast opposite the first night of the Olympics sends another strong signal that the net has given up any hope of reviving the show..." (full details)
Argggggggggggggggggg which Fox exec I am gonna beat down this time?

Pray to the gods of Showtime that they or someone picks it up!

Oh maybe we can pull a Family Guy and get enough people to buy the DVD that the executive kick themselves and bring it back. Buy all your friends two copies of the dvds for Groundhog's Day!

I watched the first season and didn't care for it. I'm suprised it has lasted this long, really.

The same thing happened with "Firefly". Although I expect the DVD sales of Serenity will do better than it did in theaters. I have heard many people who rented the movie and loved it.

For wanting to be edgy, they sure don't know how to hang on to cutting edge material.

Re: "Development" finally "Arrested"

I love Arrested Development. I got my brother into it too after being hesitant. I really hope somebody picks it up. I don't have cable, but if a cable network picks it up I can always wait for the DVDs.

Re: "Development" finally "Arrested"

The problem is it's an intelligent comedy. It doesn't appeal to the lowest common denominator. FOX has become what it fought against when it started out. You know, X Files would never survive if it were to premiere now. It wasn't an instant hit and that's all FOX want's now.

I liked Serenity ALOT more than I thought I would. I have tried Arrested Development MANY times but it just doesn't do it for me.

Then again, it took awhile for Family Guy to grow on me too, so who knows.

Re: "Development" finally "Arrested"

Did everyone else watch the series finale on friday! OMG it was the best! It so tied up every single loose end possible

Did anyone else get the big giant hint at the end:

When they cut to Ron Howard reacting to Maybee's proposal to the turn the Bluthe family into a series and Ron says in response:
Spoiler

"I don't see it as a series but maybe as movie!" Oh lord I hope thats a hint!

Re: "Development" finally "Arrested"

Fox has got to have some of the worst execs in the history of tv. They approve some of the worst shows and kill most of the good shows that they do manage to get on the air. I know I loved Arrested Development. I also loved Gregg The Bunny (was I the only one?) , Firfly was cool to , The Pjs (again was I the only one I only hope it is put out on dvd) and The Critic (thank god for dvd). At least Family Guy was saved no thanks to Fox (thank you cartoon network).

Greg the Bunny was a great show, so no, you are not the only one, but we are probably the only two. And that show should have had a spin off based on tardy the Turtle. I also liked the Tick, but of course it was different so it was killed. The only good thing about fox is that they put out all the shows the kill off on dvd.

But keep up hope, Arrested Development could still be saved!!!!
