Quick Update... as of Saturday the Pearl is still in San Pedro. Best way to see it is from Cabrillo Beach or taking a cruise of the harbor.

Does anyone know if they're still filming in San Pedro today? I wanted to go down there today or maybe Monday. I don't know if they would film on a holiday though.. Would Cabrillo Landing be a good place to see them from? (it's on 22nd st. as someone suggested.) Also, does anyone know if Johnny Depp has been signing autographs in San Pedro? (and at what time?) Thanks so much! Any info at all would be very helpful!

This has been a HOT topic in our house for a while. My bro read in a local paper that they MAY be shooting here in the Guadalupe Dunes/Oceano sometime in late Oct/early Nov. I am currently trying to find more info as my dd is planning a pilgrimage to see JD. Also heard they are looking for "short people" and as she is and always has been our little pixie (she is almost 15) she may just have a chance! OMGosh!

Okay, back to Earth. I will try to keep all posted as soon as I hear/get more.

I just went to see the Black Pearl today. I saw it from every single angle possible (although from pretty darn far away. How did some of you get so close??)...I even found where the production enterance was (of course, with a locked gate blocking it). ...I don't think they were filming today though.

So sad...I badly wanted to meet Johnny Depp!! (like more than anything!

) I think I'll go back when I know they're going to be filming. Does anyone have any idea where he might sign autographs? There aren't very many businesses nearby. There are a few restaurants at the 22nd St. Landing...maybe there?

Again..I just wanted to thank everyone who lives near the filming who can update everyone else. You guys are our lifelines to the whole production....What would we do without you?? hehe

Your best bet is to try and find the "base camp" for the production. It is usually noticable by a vast amount of trailers, large white tents, and semi trucks.

While in Redondo, Johnny could usually be seen in the base camp area around 7pm.

I found that, but it was behind a locked gate. You could see all the white tents and trailers & the Black Pearl behind the gate. I don't think there was another way to get into that area.

The other day when my friend and I went, we actually followed Cast/Crew directional signs and we ended up at the gate at San Pedro. The site doesn't seem to be as fan friendly as Redondo at a quick glance.

Update -

I just found out from a co-worker who knows the actual captain of the Black Pearl (he's sailed the ship for filming on location in all three movies) that there will be more filming in the local area. I don't have any more specifics right now, but I'll definitely pass on anything I learn!!!!

We just went down there... HELP! Where were they filming? We are going to go back in a few hours. We could see the boat out on the water, but we were down by the Portofino and Joe's Crab Shack and could not find any gate or tents!

They're not filming right now.

If you scroll up a few posts you'll see that for the time being, the Pearl is docked in San Pedro. They will be filming again, but I'm not aware of WHEN exactly.
