Hollywood Parade..........

Did anyone see this years Hollywood Christmas parade? I thought it was pretty good coverage this year, especially with the marching bands. It is about time they give the bands their fare share of credit, after all some of them travel thousands of miles to entertain the parade goers and in years past, they would always go to a commercial as soon as the bands entered the tv area. So good coverage this year.

Re: Hollywood Parade..........

Yep. Thought the coverage was great, but knowing that a good percentage of stars jump out of the cars and leave as soon as they pass the cameras spoils the parade a bit for me. Of course, the thousands of people on the Boulevard also don't get the singing or dancing performances...

Re: Hollywood Parade..........

Don't worry if you missed it. If you live in the LA area, it is being repeated on the following dates:

Saturday, December 2nd at 2P/PST
Saturday, December 9th at 3P/PST
Saturday, December 16th at 6P/PST
Saturday, December 23rd at 3:30P/PST

I'm afraid I wasn't as impressed with the parade. The hosts kept talking over the bands, especially the ones with bagpipes (which I love). I did like the drum off between Bellflower High and Mayfair High (I live in Lakewood and am familiar with both schools). Santa looked good this year, though when his float stopped suddenly, he almost toppled over. The camera quickly cut away and then back to him after he regained his balance. Nothing like live TV.

Re: Hollywood Parade..........

i miss bob and leeza but I also miss the big floats the studios used to do. paramount and WB and disney. they all used to have floats that showed their upcoming releases and disney used to have a huge unit with the characters and DL as well. this year they had nothing. just universal characters in cars. pretty sad. after all this is the hollywood christmas parade but unless you knew it was in california it could have been held in any city.

I think the Long Beach Jr. Concert Band drummers should have been in that drum off. they would have been more exciting and a lot louder to watch. I am a bit biased, cuz I used to be in that great drum section.

Re: Hollywood Parade..........

coverage was ok. better than some previous years. It played on
our local ABC tv station the Sunday night after Thanksgiving. They
did have some of the cast from High School Musical, so I assume Disney
sposored that. (Side note, some of the cast from High School Musical
were in the Macy's parade also) I'm sure they were in it to help promote
the HS Musical that is on tour.

One thing I did notice, and thought strange, as the Camera's panned the crowd, and the parade, quite often you would see the signs for the Chinese Theater and Kodak Theater on Hollywood Blvd, BUT the camera's NEVER, NOT ONCE panned the area showing the Disney Soda Fountain or El Capitan Theater, which are immediately across the street from Grauman's Theater. You would think that with panning the crowds in that area, that you would see, at least once the front of either the El Capitan or the Soda Fountain. They must have purposely avoided showing those for some ODD reason. ANYONE have the story on that??????

Re: Hollywood Parade..........

That parade isn't even worth watching anymore. B and C grade TV show "Stars" and that's about it. They talked over the bands and even though the Santa was great looking like Wendy Girl said they stopped so suddenly he almost went head over boots off the front of the sleigh. Just not the same parade it used to be, no matter how hard you wish it was. No pixie dust here anymore.

I don't consider this year's Grand Marshall George Lopez as a B or C grade TV "star" as you call it.

Re: Hollywood Parade..........

I didn't mean him, but all the other non stars that they seem to cram into that parade. No big names at all. Just TV kids and old TV stars that don't have anything going on now anyway. It's a point I am making. That parade used to be fun to watch with the big Hollywood stars, the big floats, etc. Now, sorry to say it's a zero deal.
