The Cary Grant, David Niven version is head & shoulders better than the remake with Denzel Washington. One of my favorite movies of all time, and a tradition in my family to watch it every Christmas Eve (and I get choked up during the choir scene every time.) Good catch and GREAT movie.

Some more I like. All the old black and white Universal Studios Monster movies and their sequels:
Frankenstein
Dracula
The Wolfman
The Mummy
The Invisible Man
The Creature From The Black Lagoon.

And the original silent Phantom of the Opera

The Bishop's Wife is our Santa time movie...we watch it after the kids have gone to bed and we do our Santa thing.

I also love:
Charade (Cary Grant & Audrey Hepburn)
Indiscreet (Cary Grant & Ingrid Bergman) a great thriller!
Gaslight (Ingrid Bergman) another great thriller
An American in Paris (Gene Kelly & Leslie Caron)
and to go with the other epics that include intermissions...Grand Prix (my dad was there during the filming in Monaco!)

Do you have any favorites I can add to my Netflix list? (And, I am talkin' OLD movies here...not from the 80's!) ha!
Musicals - anything with Gene Kelly, - I watch musicals from the 20's to the 60's - but the 30's-late 40's are my favorites - some early 50's work but really the big MGM musicals are the best

WOW - I think this list just about covers it! What's left to mention?

Anything Hitchcock or Doris Day for me!! I know, they couldn't be more different!

And for some strange reason, Shirley Temple movies hold a special place in my . They are just so nostalgic and remind me of watching movies as a child.

Re: What Are Your Favorite Old Classic Movies?

i know Gone with the Wind is one of my favorites as is the Wizard of Oz and Casablanca. Most any Audrey Hepburn movies are wonderful and there is a really great movie from the 30s that Judy Garland did before the Wizard of Oz but i can't remember the name of it but when i do i'll let you know. and Hitchcock's The Birds is wonderfully creepy!

Re: What Are Your Favorite Old Classic Movies?

Yeah, I have been thinking of another Judy Garland movie that I like also; but I have only seen this one once. This one was when Judy Garland was a little girl too. All remember it being sad; because she died while being on the subway.

I guessing; it's maybe Little Nellie Kelly ; the one I'm thinking of. That one came like a year after Wizard of Oz. Little Nellie Kelly does ring a bell.
