I was very sad to hear about this. I heard it on KNX 1070 AM radio today. Suzanne Pleshette, his widow, has my prayers.

I really liked him. My favorite role of his was on the short lived show Committed where he played a retired clown that lived in a walk-in closet.

Funny, funny guy.

I also had no idea he was married to her. I grew up watching both of them on tv.

He was a good actor. My sympathies to his wife and family.

He did so many things over the years. He had roles on so many shows, and was a regular on the great classic game shows of the past.

His role on Bob Newhart's second show has been well chronicled.

He also appeared on Murphy Brown a few times as the old curmudgeonly man who lived next door! As with everything else, he was classic there too.

He had a long and great career, and apparently a great life as well.
