Harry Potter in 3D

Is anyone planning on seeing Order of the Phoenix in IMAX 3D? I just want to know if its any better. Has anyone ever seen a movie in IMAX 3D?

IMAX 3D sucks. Save your money. Only a few segments are in 3D, and the indicator telling you when to put the glasses on really screws up the flow of a movie.

On top of that, the picture quality is blurry too! Until Disney Digital 3D becomes the standard, I'd say it's not worth the extra dough.

I was wondering how they told you when to put the glasses on.
How do they do it exactly?

At the bottom of the screen, green glasses flash. When it's time to take them off, they flash red.

It gets really annoying.

I am!
Just for the experience of it.
But I'm seeing the movie at a regular theater first.

Re: Harry Potter in 3D

Wow, I didn't know that Harry would be in 3D as well. I'm not going to say that it's not tempting, but if it's not all in 3D, then I'm not sure I'll pay the extra money to see it in IMAX.

I guess I feel like I've been duped enough by IMAX as is. It's always SO impressive for the first 10-minutes and then it wears off and seems like any other screen.

IMAX used to not only have a superior screen, but superior sound as well. But most theaters have upgraded their sound systems over the last several years and, on top of that, some theaters show these top flight movies on digital projectors now as well. IMO, it just seems like IMAX has less value than it used to.

Re: Harry Potter in 3D

The last 20 minutes will be in 3-D. I have always thought the IMAX 3-D was amazing. I plan to see it at both a regular theater and in IMAX as well. I have seen all the HP Movies that have been done in IMAX and in a regular theater as well. The IMAX vesions are like watching a whole new movie. They are not blurry at all, but sharp and clear. Maybe the theater you saw them at was not up to snuff. The one up at Universal is really good and that entire complex has just been updated so that all the theaters are Stadium Seating now and digital 3-D has been installed in at least two theaters.
