The Knight Bus Arrives In Bellflower

A week or so ago I started a thread which gave the locations that Knight Bus from Harry Potter (not the real movie version but one put out by Scholastic) would be making library appearances. Today they came to my neighboring city of Bellflower. There was not much advertising on this. I saw a small article in the paper a day or two ago.

The bus was scheduled to be at the library from 2 to 5 PM. I arrived at 3:30 and was able to park one block over as they had closed down the street in front of the library. There were no crowds to speak of. Now maybe when it got there at 2 PM there were people there, but hardly anyone at 3:30. Was it worth it? If you have children, then yes. Only children were allowed inside the bus where they sat and listened to someone reading excerpts from the books. It was OK and something to do. But I would not drive a long distance to see this.

Here are some photos and comments.

As you can see, the line for kids to sit in the bus was not long

Inside the bus I could hear a recording of someone with a deep British accent reading excerpts from the books

Just to the West of the bus they had some tents set up. One was a check in table, a face painting table, bottled water and a game.

Here is a close up of the wheel game. Kids spun the wheel and then depending on the picture it landed on they were asked a question from the books. If they answered correctly they got anywhere from one to three "pins". My daughter saw one up close and said they looked OK but nothing special.

Inside the library they had activities for the kids. This man was a library employee and he was dressed up to represent ... well, I'm not sure

An area where the kids could color Harry Potter pictures

There was a magician entertaining and he was good.

Some of the kids and adults watching his act

They had a few decorations up

A look at the bus from the steps of the library

And closeups of the bus

My daughter noticed the license plate and what state this originated in

So that was it. I'm sure the kids were enjoying themselves but this could have been much better advertised.
