I know the question has probably been asked in earlier threads, but I'm looking for some more up to date suggestions. We'll be at Disneyland from December 3rd until the 8th and are looking for recommendations for solid, affordable hotels/motels that have rooms large enough for us all to sleep comfortably. Free internet and free parking are a plus.

I've got a reservation at the Peacock Hotel and at HoJo. Wondering if there's a better deal out there.

Thanks,

My picture threads consist of images I have taken that focus on the architecture, landscape architecture, planning, design, and theming of the facilities highlighted. They may also contain short descriptions and commentary, but will not focus on construction progress or special events or memorabilia or food selections or my traveling companions. Hopefully these threads are a good introduction for those who have not seen these places yet. All killer, no filler!

Disney's Grand Californian Hotel photographed in January 2008:
This large hotel is an ode to the California Arts and Crafts style of the early part of the 20th century and recalls the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite National Park in some of its details. It is the mountain park resort that trumps all of its predecessors, and its theme integrates perfectly with the adjoining land called Golden State in the California Adventure theme park. In fact, there is a seperate entrance to the park from the hotel, and one of the restaurants and many of the rooms have views directly into the park. The hotel is composed of several wings and has recently been enlarged with a Vacation Club area.

Pool Area:
Several adjoining pools are on the backside of the hotel near the theme park, including the formal Fountain Pool, Mariposa Pool, and Redwood Pool with a trunk-shaped waterslide.

Downtown Disney Entry:
The hotel also features an entrance from the Downtown Disney restaurant and shop and entertainment area; in fact, several of the stores are housed on the ground level of one of the wings and the nearby La Brea Bakery is in a similarly themed building.

This hotel is 3 miles away from Disneyland, and am wondering if any of you have stayed here before, and tell me how it is like.
Thanks. :)

Booked this hotel through Priceline last week for the Low-Low price of $40 ($52 with fees).

Got to the hotel about 4pm (easy parking) and checked in. Their systems were down but they front-desk staff handled it VERY well. (Kudos)

It was a little wait for the room so they were giving you the option for free parking ($14) or a free $20 breakfast voucher. Since we generally eat breakfast at Disneyland we took the parking. Very nice of them to give people that option since they REALLY didn't have to.

Since we didn't want to wait we asked if it would be alright if we just came back later to get our room keys. (no problem).

Left at about 5:00 and got back about 10:45pm after fireworks.

Check in when we came back was a breeze and they even gave me the $20 voucher for breakfast since we helped them out by coming back. SCORE!!! And another thing they didn't have to do.

The rooms ... VERY nice. Two very comfortable queen sized beds, flat-screen TV (with lots of great channels unlike some local hotels **cough**Crown Plaza**cough**), Desk, etc. Nice fluffy pillows which is always a bonus.

Breakfast, got the continental breakfast, not great, not bad. Yummy coffee ... muffins had 20 grams of fat (no thank you). Fruit cup was yummy.

Check out was a breeze.

We figured out we only really paid about $18 for the hotel.

$52 with fees - $14 parking = $38 - $20 breakfast voucher = $18. :yea:

The hotel is very nice, very convenient, very clean. Easy/secured parking with just a short walk to the front desk unlike some other nearby hotels **cough**Crown Plaza**cough**.

Ratings:
Check In/Out - 4 out of 5 stars
Rooms - 4 out of 5 stars
Staff - 5 out of 5 (handled the systems being down above and beyond)
Parking - 4 out of 5 (convenient parking but outside or it would have been 5 out of 5)
Breakfast - 3 out of 5 (yes it was free, but it wouldn't have been worth the $18 I would have had to pay for it. Although some of the other menu items looked GREAT and I would try them if we weren't in such a hurry to get to Disneyland)

Here's hoping we get this hotel through Priceline a lot more in the near future!!!

My last trip to Disneyland, I stayed at Paradise Pier with a theme park view, and the view of DCA really was worth the money. However, I've always wanted to stay at DLH, only I notice they specify a "resort" view, without ever mentioning what part of the resort you might be overlooking. I don't really want to look at Mickey and Friends, or the anthill of Downtown Disney. Is the DLH resort view worth it, or should I just stay at Paradise Pier again? Is the theme park view at GCH any good? Being lower to the ground, it seems like the rooms wouldn't have such a nice over-view of things. :???:
