Losing Friends

I have noticed that the number of the friends, on my profile page, has recently decreased by a few. That in itself is fine. I understand that people's MiceChatting habits change. It would be nice if we could get a notification that a friend has left, in the same way that we do when they become our friend.

Sometimes, I figure it out, and then sometimes later, when I think about sending someone a note, I realize they aren't there any more.

You and I talked about this during our recent visit at the DLR. We both signed on during the first few months of MC's existence, and the cast of characters certainly has changed, and grown a lot, since then.

I am one of those that come and go sometimes. But I don't want to say anything lest people think I'm staging a "grand exit".

In my case, or in others similar, when I find that in one way or another that I'm not feeling like communicating on these boards, what might be an ettiquette to follow so that those that care about me know that I'm alright?

I remember when the entire Friends thing began here at MiceChat. I wasn't sure that I wanted to participate. However, after considering it for a while, I started asking people to be my friend. Most of those did, and a few just became contacts.

I have noticed how for some people the visitor messages have become another place to chat daily with friends. This seems to be especially true for those members who do not have the authority to use PM's. That would be younger members of MiceChat.

So when the ability to connect with someone is cut off unexpectedly, it can be jolting for a time.

I, actually use the messaging sparingly, and do delete everything after a time. In that respect, I am not a saver.

People come in and out of our lives outside of MiceChat, and here at MiceChat that is true also. I don't demand an explanation of why someone has chosen to change their settings. I just scratch my head wondering who it was that left when I see my numbers go down. I do care about each of my friends, or I would not have asked them to be a friend in the first place.
