Cursor positioning issue when editing a post

After opening a post to edit it, when you first position your cursor in the body of text and click to begin your edit, the insert point does not become active at that position but at the upper-left corner of the text box. You have to click again to reposition the cursor. (If you don't pay attention, you can find yourself typing at the wrong insert point.)

Re: Cursor positioning issue when editing a post

Every time MiceChat does an update, it seems that I have to learn a brand new way to do something. I have already discovered that things are edited a little bit differently than just a few days ago.

Gotta be on my toes here at MiceChat. That's actually a good thing for me.

I had the same issue as well Wiggins. I'm not sure if it still exists.

The editing box remains 'inactive' until you click it. This is important because:
    • The full Javascript doesn't load until you click the box - Which improves performance (on slower machines) over the older editor.
    • It also turns on the Auto-Save. Clicking in the box activates the back-end for the post auto-save, which allows you to a restore your typing if you mistakenly click or navigate to another page while typing.
Expect some improvements/bug fixes to the editor over the next couple of releases.

Actually, the issue I was having was a disappearing cursor that wouldn't reappear until I clicked somewhere else. I now see that this wasn't the issue Mr Wiggins was having.

^ Funny you should mention, I'm having that issue as well.

For me, the cursor disappears until I move it. Which seems like normal cursor behavior while typing a message, IMO. But what I'm experiencing may in fact be different than what you're experiencing.

^Even if I move it, it remains invisible until a character is typed. It makes it hard because even if you click somewhere else with the mouse or arrow around, it remains invisible. I end up having to fire a few test characters into my paragraphs occasionally to find out where I'm typing.

Same here when editing a post.

FYI: This is now a confirmed bug on the vB Bug Tracker. Should be a fix in the next version of vB.

Changing to "Standard Editor" under General Settings fixed this bug for me (thanks to Monorail Man for the tip in the other thread!).
