I have the answer!

Basically what is happening is many of our members with the highest post counts are being rewarded with platinum stars. The old system maxed out at 5000 posts with 5 stars. The new system will then begin to award platinum stars for each 10000 posts after that.

Aside from providing a twist on the old system, it is also giving me a great opportunity to learn some of the ins and outs of the site.

Furthermore, there are still some members on the "old system" but this is temporary as everyone is switched over systematically.

Just a suggestion. Would it look better if instead of the tiny little MC Gold square, you simple had a line that said:

MiceChat GoldMember

Smaller of course..
