Re: New Signature Rule In Effect - Maximum Signature Display of 250px
Yay! The world is safe again from 1GB Signatures after a 200-byte post.
For the three of you who will complain: The whole world doesn't read MiceChat on a 1024x768 (or larger) screen with a 19", 21", 24" monitor, and have a DSL or Cable broadband connection available.
There are still 13" screens and 640X480 out there. And people stuck on the far fringes of dial-up lucky to get 14.4Kb on a noisy phone line because their town is too small to attract an ISP, or they are out on a farm or up in the mountains well past the distance limits.
If I'm on the road it's only 240x240 screen that's 1-7/8" square on a Palm Treo, and a third of that is taken up with the scroll bars and menus. Same with people using iPhones and Smartphones and BlackBerries for access.
I'm fine here, bandwidth isn't nearly the problem it was even a few years back.
(I could push for the old Usenet Newsgroups standard of Text Only, 4 lines, 80-characters, that was developed when people still used Model 33 Teletypes as computer terminals - but that would be draconic. "When I was your age, the standard was 110 bits per second data and 'High Speed Access' was 300 baud, and metered by the minute! And there were no automobiles, I had to hike twenty miles to school through a blizzard, Uphill both ways...!")
