More like designing a motor control scheme that will allow the motor to run under two different conditions. There is a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller, basically a computer that runs a program that makes a machine perform its intended purpose) involved.
This is one of the conditions, the other is a bypass of the PLC, but with an input so the PLC knows it doesn't have control, but know the motor is running so it can complete its tasks.
It sounds complicated, but it's actually not. I'm just trying to make it as simple as possible.
