Just saw the "growing metropolitan area" thing. Yeah.... there are no jobs out here, everyone's moving far far away from here. 4 houses on my street alone are for sale.

Cute pics of the raccoon and very creative art on your daughters part. I recognize what a few of the things are that she used. I never would've thought to use finger nail tips for that, very creative.

Okay now I'm really going to sleep. Nanners and see you people's in the morning!

Oak trees (remnants of which can be seen in the Orangevale Park) were common, as were trails made by Maidu Native Americans many years before. In addition to orange groves, several olive orchards were also once in the area, and some original trees can still be found along Chestnut, Orangevale, Main, and Walnut Avenue.
Orangevale is in Sacramento Country ......
    The population is about 33,960
The community is known for its rolling hills that offer the best views of the Sierra Nevada, mountain range, its foothills, and a rural environment in the middle of a growing metropolitan area. Some residential properties in the area are zoned to accommodate horses and orchards.
It is located approximately 25 miles (40 km) northeast of Sacramento!

Hills that you can't see a darned thing on the other side of when you're driving in the dark. Therefore you drive half the speed of smell so you don't hit someone walking, biking or driving up the middle of the road on the other side. Oak trees all over that love to house birds that love to poop on your car and if the birds don't get your car, the tree will be kind enough to sap all over it. In winter, their branches fall off and land on your car. Ahhh, nature. 33,950 people that make up the population can't operate a motor vehicle to save their own lives. Most of the population has horses and/or chickens. Where there are chickens, there are usually roosters. Built in alarm clocks that the neighbors won't let you shoot to signal the snooze function. If you're lucky, your neighbor has a horse, beagles, and goats (raising hand!) And they sell you on the nature aspect because there isn't a single other thing to see except our (apparently) freakishly large CVS.

Seriously though, the trees are beautiful in fall, I can walk to Orangevale Park from my house. I went for a walk in it one day in fall a couple years ago. There are benches made of the fallen trees, it's a nice place to just sit and listen to the birds. OV Park is right across the street from my high school. Chestnut is just three streets over from my house, and the others are just past that. Such a dinky town, you can see it all in about 10 minutes assuming you make the light.
Yup... sounds like Yucca Valley... well, except for the chickens...

Yeah, there are chickens all over the place. Oh, and peacocks. I love talking to them at night, I've gotten good at imitating their sound. We have so much livestock here that the rival high school (Bella Vista) has a dress up day where they went to school dressed as Casa Roble (my high school) kids. They go to school dressed as farmers. They ask the Casa kids if the school has horse parking or if they ride a horse to school.

And yeah, no jobs anywhere, but OV I swear is on the verge of being a ghost town. It's getting creepy.

I can get to Sac in about 25 minutes. It's eh. A lot of Sac is really ghetto now so it makes for an interesting trip. Some areas are really nice and pretty, but a lot of it can be sketchville if ya know what I mean.

I've been in a ghost town. Years ago we lived in Eagle Mountain. It was a totally company owned town, owned by Kaiser Steel. It was the open pit mine where they got the raw materials for the steel plant in Fontana. Back in 1982, when the steel industry feel apart and Kaiser shut down the mine, we were some of the last people to leave... yeah... it was freaky. I think we were the last or next to last on our street to leave. We were like the only house that wasn't boarded up on the entire street.... Now that, was creepy.

    ---------- Post added 09-07-2011 at 09:57 PM ----------

Whoa.... just did a google search... the second picture. Thats our house!!! Thats the house we lived in when we had to leave!
