The Thanksgiving Feast! - What's on your table?

I thought it might be fun to play a game for Thanksgiving.

The game is easy. We will start with the Thanksgiving Turkey. Then the next poster will add a new and different dish. Let's see how many different dishes we can add to this Thanksgiving feast before the big day really arrives. There are the traditional dishes, of course, but different families, and different cultures serve many different things for the Thanksgiving meal.

Each poster just needs to name their dish, and it would be nice if they could provide a description.

Home-made rolls. My Mom is one of the very best cooks ever, she has been making rolls from scratch for over a half-century. Boy, are they ever good!!

Grapeleaves

The only time we can get my Mom to make them is the holidays. And no one makes them as good as she can. Simple, yet yummy! Ground beef and rice wrapped in a grapeleaf, and eaten with plain Greek yogurt or sour cream....

Cornbread stuffing - I cheat and use the cornbread stuffing mix in the box. That just means that I don't have to worry about the right seasoning. I add mushrooms, celery, peppers, and my own sauteed giblets.

Cranberry sauce. The stuff in the cans. I could easily eat a whole can of it. Maybe it's because it's only served on special occasions, but it sure tastes good!

RazzleBerry pie, cold, but ala mode.


This pie is made from pretty much every and any berry you can find. Very yummy!! Or should I say "Berry" yummy?

We have these instead of mashed.

My all time favorite vegetable. It was always a special treat for us at the holidays, growing up.

Whipped cream salad. Basically, fruit cocktail mixed with whipped cream. The real stuff though, cool whip is not as good.

Only bad thing is it's only good for a day or so.

Yams. I buy the ones in the can. Of course they are called sweet potatoes, and I eat them year around. My older son loves them.

Field Green Salad with candied pecans and cranberries. Yum!

stuffed celery.

My sister in law makes really good stuffed celery with cheddar cheese. It's more of an appetizer, but it is definitely very yummy, and I don't make it anywhere near as good as hers.

Yet another on my Moms creations from scratch.....man, is it ever good!

I adore green beans and that sounds quite good!



Broccoli Casserole. It is a recipe I usually end up making. You can't go wrong with broccoli and lots of cheeses.

Turkey Gravy.

Wish I knew how to make this from the pan drippings like my mother in law used to do it, but sorry to say my gravy comes out of either a jar, or a can.
