I see our meet is the first week in Feb. Good chance I can make it.
A bit different this year, it's usually me, my daughter and 3 of her friends, all girls. This year, it'll prolly be me, my daughter, her best friend and their boyfriends. Good kids though, I like all of them.
I sorts talked my daughters best friends boyfriend into getting into the electrical trade. He started his apprenticeship a month or so ago. So far he likes it a lot. The guy is sharp and doesn't mind physical work; he'll fit in just fine.
So hoping you guys can make it too!!
Glad you talked the boyfriend into the apprenticeship.... its a good field to get into, and not an easy one...not a lot of openings so if he can get in now, it will work to his advantage!
I see a lot of guys my age bailing out of the trades and not many young guys getting in. When the economy picks up again, the young guys with experience will be in a pretty good position.
Even us old dudes will do well.
I wish I could go back in time and had talked my son in law into doing something like Physical Therapy... he went to school for computer stuff, but of course as soon as he finished that the tech bubble burst. So now he has an AA in computer stuff, but can't find a job doing what he trained to do. He's spent the last 10 years doing personal care of adults with disabilities... and not making very good money. Then he was working at a call center where they are now but he was so stressed because they treat the workers like second class citizens and like they are expendable. In the month he was there they fired like 6 or 7 people. He even got called into the office for going to the bathroom and getting a cup of coffee without permission.
But my cousin (by marriage) has a relative there who had a service working with senior citizens... and she recently had to fire several people for stealing from clients and stuff so as much as Clint didn't want to do the same thing... he's going to apply there. Crossing fingers and toes that he gets it. It won't pay much but at least maybe his health will be better since he won't have to be under so much stress!

My Mom does the coupon thing like crazy. She'll come home with 10 or 12 bags of groceries and pay like $50 for it.
Yup. But Ralphs offers e-coupons meaning I've registered my card on their website and they have a full list of coupons for all kinds of things. I load them onto my Ralphs club card and when I scan the card at check out not only am I getting the Ralphs card exclusives but also all the coupons I added.
Also, I get paper coupons from Ralphs for being a preffered member. Sometimes $10 off purchases and more coupons on things.
I love Ralphs and my club card.
I also get 20cents off a gallon on gas at their gas station.
