I, personally, don't think we should wait until next year. I think we should do something like that again sooner.

    Virus
    Infection spreads
    humans get infected and then...
    want to eat live flesh

    indeed.

That's bad. I know the problem a lot of schools have is they spend so much of the start of a school year reteaching what was not retained over summer.

Near me I know some kids who go to similiar camps, well at least I know their parents. I was hoping since your's is through the school it would be better.

I prefer quality over quantity for entertainment.

My flight has been delayed by 2 hours. I should be in the air already, and I am not. I am thankful for the Internet.

Well, I actually think its ok. However, I keep "teaching" him at home to keep things fresh. We read alot, do math tables and spelling. But its on our own time. So I don't mind. Besides, I even remember "losing" alot of my schooling over the summer...and I went to a private school. I think that is just something that happens. That is why I refresh him at home over the summer months.

This was the schedule they had last summer:

    Week Date THEME
    Field Trips
    #1 June 4-8
    So Cal History
    6/7 Wildlife Assembly (Wild America)
6/8 Picnic Lunch at Coyote Canyon Park
    #2 June 11-15
    So Cal Coastline
6/12 Dancing Scientist Assembly at Alta Loma Elementary
6/13 Whale Watching – Newport Beach (Wednesday)
    #3 June 18-22
    So Cal Cuisine
    6/19 K-2 Albertsons Tour (Upland)
3-8 Nong Shim Noodle Factory (RC)
    6/21 Tanaka Farms (Irvine)
    #4 June 25-29
    So Cal TunesMusic Industry
6/26 Knotts Berry Farm ($20.00 fee)**
6/28 DJ Assembly with Sean Stearns
    6/29 Guasti Water Park
    #5 July 2-6
    Wed. - 7/4 Closed
    Drama Week
7/3 K-2, Drawing with Kyle Assembly
3-8, Cosmic Bowling (Deer Creek Lanes – RC)
    7/5 K-2, Adventure City - Anaheim
3-8, TCM Publishing Company (Huntington Beach)
    #6 July 9-13
    So Cal Art
7/10 “Get Up and Move” Christy Lane Dance Assembly
    7/12 Sawdust Factory (Upland)
    7/13 Guasti Water Park
    #7 July 16-20
    Digging Through
    So Cal
7/17 Brea Tar Pits (Los Angeles)
    7/19 Guasti Water Park
    #8 July 23-27
    Best of RC
7/24 California Gold – Panning for Gold Assembly
    7/26 Guasti Water Park
7/27 End of Summer Camp Pizza Party!

There were alot of "educational" field trips. I know they do have some educational time. Its just not a dominate part of the schedule.

I agree that the zombie thing is way overdone, but I'm okay with the World War Z film, since it's based on a novel that came out like seven years ago or something. I've never read it, but I've heard good things. it's bound to be much better than the godawful-looking "Warm Bodies" or whatever that I saw a trailer for when I went to see Silver Linings Playbook. :P

regarding the meet, it's hard to really write about because it's mostly just sitting around and talking. I personally didn't drink anything, but I did, however, eat the world's worst flatbread pizza. lol. there was probably 15 or so people when it was at it's most crowded, which after a couple hours dwindled to 7 or 8, who lingered for a few more hours. conversation was largely reminiscent in nature. all in all, it was a very pleasant evening.

also, it sprinkled. this affected some people more than others. lol.

I ate an absolutely delicious Hawaiian cheeseburger, and sweet potato fries. I started with plain water and switched to a nice hot cup of tea, as the night turned cooler.
