My first visit to the park was in 1961. I remember the short hair grooming codes of the early days but I don't remember those getups.
Thank you POISONEDAPPLES!
Prior to the early 70's men with hair below the collar were denied admission.
Thank you POISONEDAPPLES!
Might just be me, but I dont recall anyone wearing Neon Blue Plaid 'back in the day'
Haha
Funny thought, have a comic convention the end of march around my Bday, my girlfriend and I are dressing up as characters from Marvel Comics.
Think if we go over to Disneyland (con is at the Anahiem CC) and go "Hey we're disney too" theyd let us in? haha
"If theme parks, with their pasteboard main streets, reek of a bland, safe, homogenized, whitebread America, the Renaissance Faire is at the other end of the social spectrum, a whiff of the occult, a flash of danger and a hint of the erotic. Here, they let you throw axes. Here are more beer and bosoms than you'll find in all of Disney World." - Chicago journalist Neil Steinberg
HEY, GIRL! HEEEYY!!
The one on the left would be considered a Disneybounder
Hard to imagine these days!
I believe it's considered vintage-inspired. Anyway, the point is dressing up, and I supposed everyone has a different take on what that entails!
i am sure styles for dapper day have evovled over the years. some of what i've seen at dapper day has a short and small rockabilly vibe to it... yeah i sure they didn't wear blue plaid..
if i was going i'd wear this cause it's vintage inspired 1940's ish with a creme colored hair thing, maybe with pink feathers! and white gloves and a white purse and id' put my hair in pin curls
