Sounds dumb, but one negative thing about the closer one is I'd be driving into the sun in the morning, and again in the afternoon. About 8 miles of the road in DIRECTLY into the rising sun a good part of the year.

Electrical controls is an art all by itself. A lot of guys can follow a drawing, but a real controls guy can see the mistakes on the drawing (there almost always are more than a few....) and know how to correct the drawing and make the system work as planned.
A controls guy can also make it work without any drawing; often I build something then go back and make a drawing of what I built.
Apparently, this knack is hereditary, my oldest boy is also an electrician, and he understands controls far better than mots others. It's natural to him, as it is to me.
