Yay!! Kevin!! Seems like everyone else has turned in pretty early tonight.
You'll do great on your phone interview. I'm excited to hear how it went and curious what kinds of questions they'll ask you.

I just played that song you posted in the pharmacy - my tech and I approve. I LOVE it!
thanks for the encouragement Kelly! I just brushed my teeth for like ten minutes because I was absently going over my answers to hypothetical interview questions in my head. lol. my poor enamel.
that makes me so happy! I love Sufjan Stevens. HERE'S MORE.
(content warning: it's a song about the serial killer/rapist.
Funny enough, my tech and I have had several conversations about serial killers and how crazy but fascinating they are.
We run out of things to talk about spending 11 hours a day for 7 days in a row together. We have to get creative.
Listening to those songs now... I'll let you know what we think of them!
The Dress Looks Nice on You and John Wayne Gacy, Jr get thumbs up. Vesuvius is meh... a little repetitive. John Wayne Gacy, Jr reminds me a lot of Death Cab for Cutie, which is one of my favorite bands.
I picked Vesuvius for a bit of diversity from the slow acoustic songs, and I felt it was the most "single"y off Age of Adz. my favorite from that album is actually "Impossible Soul," but that song is 25 minutes so I spared you. :P
one of the main things I love about Sufjan Stevens is that he really approaches his music as an art form. there's so much depth in each song! so many elements! so many compliments and contradictions! ack!
I like Death Cab as well, but I haven't really enjoyed anything they put out since the Plans album. I was OBSESSED with that CD and Ben Gibbard's other band The Postal Service in 8th grade. I don't think I listened to anything else.
posting more songs because I'm bored and I like making little playlists. I won't embed them so it's less annoying for the vast, vast, vast majority of people who don't care. :P
1. Shiver Shiver - Walk the Moon with Lyrics - YouTube
2. The Dear Hunter - "The Inheritance" - YouTube
3. Two Door Cinema Club - Undercover Martyn - YouTube
4. Beirut - Nantes - YouTube
5. Arcade Fire - "Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)" - YouTube
Yes, Plans was the best. I also love Postal Service. I saw Death Cab in concert a few years ago, and they were one of the best bands I've seen live... Not that I've seen many bands, but they sounded just like they do on the CD if not better. You could tell he really loved music, it was great!
Making my way through your playlist...
I'm hoping now that Zooey Deschenel's divorced Ben Gibbard, he'll write more inspired music.......... lol. I'm not a good person.
just watched a video of the Dapper Dans doing boy bands... the cringe levels are astronomical. I feel so embarrassed for them. and this is coming from someone who is not afraid to unabashedly jam to boy band music.
I was just reading the thread about the Dans covering Boy Bands. I've only seen the one video where they were introducing it... I think it's at the beginning of that thread. I liked it. I haven't watched any from the actual park performances, though.
So for your playlist, my tech and I have comed to the following conclusion(s):
1, 2, and 3 are awesome. 4 we are not fans of. 5 is okay. I'm surprised her and I agreed on them all, as we usually have pretty different taste in music.
Seems that most songwriters/musicians produce better stuff when they're sad, angry, or miserable. Happy music is just lame!![]()
I saw this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8igP6chM_Ng
I think it would be better if they ditched the cheesy intro about being "the original boyband" and discovering the songs through some girl with earbuds. also they need to get better arrangements. I LOVE covers of catchy pop songs that completely transform them into something else, but the Dapper Dans don't really reinterpret the songs, they just sort of sing them straight, in a way that totally clashes with their voices. if they performed the songs without the fanfare, as if it were like singing "Mr. Sandman" or any other song in their repertoire, it'd be much more enjoyable IMO. I mean not that it really matters that much since it's just for the week but hey these are my thoughts on things at 2 AM.
with that said, I'm going to bed. I'll leave one final song, THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME.
goodnight!
I agree on the earbud intro and needing fanfare, it would definitely help. Any thoughts are valid at 2am.
Was that a trick?! Ugh she reminds me of Taylor Swift!I'll write that off as a 2am thought, too... Haha
Good night!! Thanks for the entertainment!
Wasn't I just here.... *yawn*...
So do not want to do both jobs today. But so want the paycheck...
