And when I was younger the crowds didn't bother me so much. But as I get older..... eh.
I've been old enough for the Red Hats for a while... but am to busy to join!
hello penguinsoda and hello room
Another quiet Friday night! But I got most of my stuff ready to pack. Just will need to do some last minute running around Monday... store, bank.... toss stuff in car.... and I think I'll be ready to hit the road!!! The only think that bugs me is not knowing exactly how far I'll be able to make it and not having ressies at a motel. I'm hoping to make it as far as Provo but... not sure.
And its morning... time to head to work! I hope to have a least a couple of pages to read when I get back tonight!
I have had a busy morning already. We did our grocery shopping, and then went out for breakfast. The Golden Nugget Restaurant makes a great fried egg sandwich, especially when I tell them to make it with some bacon and cheese on top. Yummy!
It's raining here in Chicago, so it' a good day to get in the kitchen and do some cooking. Then my husband's lunches will be taken care of for the week.
Happy Saturday everyone.
Hockey game is on again tonite. Hopefully they can get it done in 3 periods.
After the first period, the Hawks are ahead one goal to none.
Hockey game goes into overtime again.
Hey now... this is not the couple of pages to read back through I requested!
What a day.... crazy insane busy in the morning with one doc discharging like 10 patients, this at the end of the shift went head to head with ER. Usually things like that really get me riled up and my blood pressure up and I get so angry I want to cry.
But this time... I was angry, I was pissed but I put my foot down, stood my ground and despite being extremely agitated.. I was also calm and cool at the same time because.... I know I was right. And the night supervisor backed me up on it. And I'm so calm about it that if for some reason I got called in to a meeting with the CEO and the director... bring it. I know I was not the one compromising not only the safety of the patient, but also the liability of the hospital so.... should the same thing happen again, I would do exactly the same thing.
Good for you, Pengy!!
A lot of times, people who pull this sort of garbage are not much more than basic schoolyard bullies, and calling them out can put them in their place. At least for a while anyway.........
But continuing to take their abuse does nothing more than encourage them to be even worse.
One of the 8 bosses I have at work is about to get the same treatment. I've just about had it with him ramming his way on me at the expense of everything else.
Like you, I'll be calm, cool and collected, but firm.
Further, I am absolutely prepared to turn in my keys and walk out the door if it comes to it.
Thanks Rob! ER just tried to dump a patient on us without them being admitted in the computer. I refused the patient on legal grounds (liability) because they hadn't even signed an admission release, didn't have a ID band on etc and instead of taking the pt. back the RN stood there and argued with me for 15 minutes.... then proceeded to lie about telling registration about the admission when I had called them a few minutes before they brought the patient to the floor and registration knew NOTHING about it.
With out being admitted we can't give them anything. If she had coded or her blood sugar bottomed out or something else... we could not of given her any meds because she wasn't in our system, plus with out the signed consent to admit from the patient if something did happen she could come back and sue the hospital for all it was worth. And win.
So yeah.... patient safety and liability. Do it again and you will get the same result and I'll tell anyone in that hospital the same thing. Want to reprimand ME or fire ME while the ER goes willy nilly and does what they want? No problem. Again... I will do the same thing each and every time regardless.
