Re: RCMC #134 You Have to Be a Little Crazy to Have A Lot of Fun

It was warmer today, and not as cold this morning. But foggy.

Of course, the fact that it is Friday is always good.......

We had fog here this morning too. It'll be a little bit warmer for us on Sunday, Monday & Tuesday. On the 7th day in a row for the spare the air days, which means no fire burning again. Bummer cuz when its this cold I love to have the fireplace going.

Fortunately we don;t have that here; well not in Fernley. Reno does though.

Yes, I've burned a lot of wood these past few days. Nothing like a nice fire to warm up by.

I think the whole spare the air stuff is rigged anyway. When ever it is really cold and know people will burn a fire they will call an alert. When this cold snap is done they won't have any. To me it kind of doesn't make sense to have stuff like this in some areas and other areas they don't. I mean don't we need clean air everywhere?

Yep, just like everything else, whenever the government gets involved, it screws it up far worse than anyone can ever imagine.

You can bet that the people who issue the bans stand to profit from increased natural gas sales.

If they don't want me using my woodstove, then they need to make clean fuels less expensive; and not by subsidies.

If they were to cut out idiotic regulations, cut back on taxes (or better yet, tax the sam-hill out of the $30 million a year CEOs instead of the $30 thousand a year users), and make it a crime punishable by death for anyone in public office to ever profit from anything other than his base salary, then we'd see prices come down......a lot.

    Ok, rant over.........

How in the world have movie prices gotten so high for a Friday Matinee. I know it's the first day, and it's a Friday, but $14? My husband says, I whine too much. He asked me if I enjoyed myself. Sure. At those prices I usually wait for something that I have been dying to see, but honestly that is the most that I have ever paid. I told the ticket taker that I need to find a cheaper movie theatre.

The movie was great. Bilbo Baggins is a great little character, and the movie showed Bilbo's courage, and dedication to the task he signed on for. Smaug the Dragon is wonderful. I sat in that seat for three whole hours, and except for the 20 minutes of annoying previews, I was mesmerized. I did not want to leave my seat, despite the fact that three hours is a long time for me to sit without a bathroom break.
One of the reasons I don't go to movies that much. If its something I really want to see a lot of times I end up buying it when it comes out on DVD, esp. if its a Disney movie. I always get the Blu Ray/DVD combo back and since I don't have a Blu Ray player I send that to my daughter and keep the DVD for me.

Just a few days ago we were literally freezing our behinds off. Today driving around I had to roll down the window. Still super chilly at night but nice mid day!

Got the last of the stuff mailed today I needed to mail. Still have a couple of cards to get out... then I need to start cleaning and maybe put up my little tree.

Since you like being alone then it was an easy transition when your daughter moved out

Yeah, you always seem pretty jammed packed when it comes to work. Glad your home and around though, I know you traveled quite a bit this year.

Hey there Pengy! What a cool deal for you daughter that you send her the blu ray discs.

Well since they make the combo packs... might as well take advantage of them!

I had a talk with someone from my local utility. He was very much into conservation rather than increasing clean energy. If you want to know why I can give you the details. I'm not sure what he did but he seemed very technical so not a manager but maybe into the business end or an engineer.

Barb that is bad about the movie cost. It seems matinees and special rates now mean a single dollar off. I don't casually go the movies anymore.
