Patience when buying a car is a virtue. Don't settle and then beat yourself up the rest of your life. The right car will come along if you scan the internet every night and hold fast to your standards. Patience, patience, patience.

Oh, and did I mention patience?

I wish groceries didn't cost so much. It's so hard to keep within my budget, especially when I shop with my husband. He doesn't look at prices. If he wants it, he buys it. That's one reason that I keep him out of the store except for about once every three weeks.

I basically jumped into buying the 05 Focus when I got it because we didn't have any other options at that time. I was going to go ahead and get an automatic transmission since I was driving down to San Diego County to visit the daughter and a manual transmission on the freeway is a PIA... but I would of had to wait another 2 days to get one in with one and I didn't want to bum rides to work so... went for the 5 speed. (The Mercury Tracer had a manual transmission too.)

That was 7 years ago and the car in all that time never failed me. Oh, I had to replace the battery and tires and had the brakes worked on but in that case my "gotta have it right now" worked out for the best.

But yes this time I'm in no rush, since I have... abet don't really like... an alternate form of transportation.

Pretty much sure it will be another Ford Focus that we will get... just waiting so I don't have the registration, insurance, and property taxes on home here and property in Idaho all due in the same month. And manual transmissions are becoming as rare as hens teeth which is probably ok. Now that I'm getting older its probably easier on my old joints not to be shifting gears. Although I wonder if I will become more complacent with driving. Having to shift gears you have to think about your driving more. Then again I've been driving manual transmissions since I got my license so it was something that I more or less did on instinct and not by thought anyway.

I think about things like that.

I would think that even in Anaheim there isn't as much traffic that time of morning. Then again, it is "the big city."

Ok, my goal today is to get lots of stuff done. Want to maybe even put up my little fake tree. I have spent a bit of time scanning through stuff on the computer now I need to make myself put it to sleep and go do stuff!!!

Sometimes, but not this day. There are people standing at the bus stop on Harbor where I drop her off, and I always wonder why they're up so early.

My last three vehicles, I bought online. I go into "buying mode" with a price in my head and I don't waver. I just wait it out til I can get what I want at the price I want.

With our bad economy, you can usually name your price.

Do you shop just one store or follow the bargains?

Groceries have gone up in price over time, it seems like dollar menus at a few places provide more calories per dollar now.

I guess a lot are going up and down harbor to work at restaurants. That really the only thing sold early on Sunday.

Re: RCMC #134 You Have to Be a Little Crazy to Have A Lot of Fun

I spent less money when I shopped alone. However, I don't drive, and it's near impossible for me to get the groceries home. So now my husband takes me shopping. We have our favorite store for groceries. We also stock up on other stuff at Target where it's cheaper. My husband buys way too much junk food, and sweets, and drinks. When we get to the store, we split up, and I get the essential items for the meals that I cook. Then my husband comes along with all his favorites. I wonder how much our grocery shopping habits will change when he is finally retired.

I see LA area is a beautiful 80° I hope its like that in 2 weeks!!

The right car and price will come along for you Jody, especially since you aren't in any rush. So your really in the drivers seat so to speak. I agree that in the bad economy car dealerships are probably willing to negotiate a bit more.

Alright I better get out the door...
