This is one of the few advantages to being old. The insurance companies know us old dudes can handle a fast car. Or maybe we just drive it slow.......lol.

Yes, the roads can be bad when it snows. The worst part though is other drivers who don't know how to drive in the snow.

In years past, they kept the passes plowed and hardly ever required chains. These days, they don't plow much and require chains with very little snow.

    Hi there, Jim!!

It was cold and windy yesterday; I had to work outside about half the day. Not fun......

It warmed up quite a bit today, but still windy. Maybe 55º or so.

It'll also be easy on gas. That makes a big difference these days.
You better believe it! I was getting tired of the Battle Cruiser.... I'd have to hike a cheek up onto the edge of the seat, then use the steering wheel to haul my... hinney up into the truck.

Not a pretty site by any means.

And it better get better gas mileage... it will be interesting to check it out the first time I fill up.

Its just got... so... much... stuff... The darn thing is even sync'd to my phone. Its going to take me weeks to go through the manual and figure out what ever thing is and does.

Thanks Jim!! Well some angels are blue.

The one we went to look at was white, but apparently they sold that one last night. I thought oh good, here we go... bait and switch. This blue one was next up on the price scale since it had a $1000 paint job and the keyless entry. But they let me have it for what I offered for the white one so.... it worked out. Went ahead and got an extra warranty thing which added about $20 a month to the payment and made it a bit longer... but these new cars have so much computer and electronic stuff now days that can go wrong and you can't be a shade tree mechanic anymore...

Nice to see everyone checking in.

Really glad you found a car Pengy. Enjoy.

New Car Smell was once a chemical that was used to extend life of the dash. If you remember a car from the 70s or maybe 80s the dash would eventually crack. Newer plastics are used now a days that don't require that chemical.

Theories suggest it may be mostly glues you smell, or that the manufacturer introduced a smell to mimic the old one. When cars became less odiferous people didn't trust they were actually new. In used cars some lots spray mimic chemical in, to make the car appear newer, with that familiar scent.

I haven't bought a new car in a few years, but when I do I try to leave the windows down. Who knows how healthy that smell is, where ever it's from.

Yeah I'm not sure what it is... coz it smells... different. Very chemically. My other car already had almost 10,000 miles on it when we bought it so the "new" smell was gone. Tomorrow I'll either spray a bit of Febreeze in it, or if its not to windy leave the windows down for a bit or put an air freshener in it.

All 3 of us don't live in the mountains, but the car we took does have 4x4. The drive up 80 was ok, just after so much snow, I'm worried traffic will crawl back down to Auburn. In Tahoe City where the cabin is, they could plow more. The streets are mushy with snow as it didn't get scraped off when we drove to Alpine Meadows or when we came back.

Sunday morning and I'm tossing around the idea of lurking the MC anniversary meet.

Maybe I'll walk to DL to do it. That way I'll get some exercise and it will justify my going to DL. Yeah, that's the ticket.

This has been a Filmways presentation dahling.
