Work was a bear today; I spent most of the day in a zoom-boom. This is a man lift with the basket attached to a boom, kinda like a crane.

This one has a two section boom and the basket can turn too. I needed all that stuff today, the plant I worked in has 30' ceilings and all kinds of machinery all over the place. Getting to the cable trays and gutters was not a lot of fun. Some spots took me about 10 minutes to get into and about as long to get out of. Pipes and ducts everywhere.

Of course the trick here is to not break anything so I had to watch several things at once. A lot of it was steam pipes; break one of those and you'll need to get away quickly.

Plus it was at least 100º up there........

Maybe I shouldn't have complained so much about the cold!

    Lol.

My first kid was born when I was 28, the last one at 37.

I'm 57 now, and the way it looks at the moment, I'll have grandkids in about 3 or 4 years. My oldest and youngest are sort of planning on kids at about the same time.

I'm gonna spoil those kids rotten.........lol.

That's definitely the fun of having grandchildren. My youngest son, the married one, talks about kids, but so far it's just talk.

Re: RCMC # 136 - It's Not Easy Being Green - Hop to it everyone....

    Hi everyone!

How's it going around here? Haven't had much time lately to come hang out, although I've tried to read posts here and there.

Started a new job about 5 weeks ago. I work for Toyota Material Handling. Their a industrial equipment company. I'm a shipping/receiving/utilities clerk there. It's okay so far, I work out in the warehouse all day. I did warehousing work previously for 12 years so familiar with it. The money and benefits are okay and its close to home about 20 mins. I do a ton of walking at work, so I'm sure I'll lose weight in no time

Were going to get a new garage door installed and so are two of my other neighbors. We've been wanting to switch over to a sectional roll top for quite some time. We have an HOA where I live so you have to get an approval from the Board of Directors. Its such a hassle at times because its a lot of back and forth corresponding and waiting. To me its a waste of time. The President of the Board of Directors lives on our street, so I probably have to go bug him to sign off on it because they only meet every 2 months and they just did that the other night.

More and more you see HOA in new housing developments. They want everything to stay uniform and for your house and landscaping to stay maintained year round. Any type of changes you go through a submit and approval process and they have you adhere to certain guidelines.

Anyway thought I would pop in and try to catch up with everyone.

I've operated and worked on a ton of Toyota forklifts over the years. Personally, I think they're one of the best, both to run and work on. Fairly well designed and they'll take tons of abuse.

One thing I really like about them is it's fairly easy to defeat the idiotic clutch-brake disconnect. With it out of the picture, its a LOT easier to inch into a load, especially if you're going uphill.

Totally agree, I think Toyota is the best forklift design out there. The incher brake is pretty awesome especially when you have the wheel turned all the way hard and the lift will shut off but with the clutch you can step on the gas and still work. We house some big lifts too so far up to 15,000 lbs that I've driven. We have a few that still run on diesel.
