    Post Obscure Disney Facts

I thought up of an original idea (which may or may not have been done on this board) of posting Obscure Disney facts. I will start with a fact you may not have known about any Disney character, park or something else, and then the next person follows that up with one of their own.

For starters, Alice in Wonderland's Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum are known as Pinco Panco and Panco Pinco in Italy.

The dragon under the castle at Disneyland Paris is the largest animatronic Disney ever made. (At least it was when DLP opened 15 years ago.)

EDIT: Read my info wrong. The dragon is the largest at DLP. I guess I should get my facts straight before posting.

Possibly, but I did say the dragon was the biggest at least 15 years ago. The Yeti from the new ride at Animal Kingdom is new. But that dragon sure is big. I've seen it in person. Smoke comes from his nose and everything. So cool!

Oh boy, I hope I have not started something.

I cannot find my dragon picture in my computer, but I do have my scrapbook pages.

    Re: Post Obscure Disney Facts

I just checked my book that I have, Disneyland Paris from Sketch to Reality by Alain Littaye, and it says that the dragon is "the largest Audio-Animatronics figure at Disneyland Paris. The impressive dragon that hides beneath the Castle walls measures 79 feet long and weighs about 5,500 pounds."

When I read that a few years ago, I guess I just understood it to mean the biggest in all the parks. Now I realize it is the biggest in DLP.

Sorry about the confussion. My bad!

According to Don Rosa's "The Life And Times Of Scrooge McDuck," as a lad, Scrooge boarded a cattle ship in scotland and it docked in Louisville, Kentucky. Scrooge boarded the boat so he could achieve the American Dream.

Uh, hello? The point of this thread is to post obscure facts and trivia about Disney related stuff, not debate. If this keeps up, I'll call in the threadjacking police (a/k/a a moderator or two) and close this down.

Now, to get back on topic, did you know that the composers of Baroque Hoedown, the main underscore theme to the Main Street Electrical Parade also composed the original theme for Jack Barry's classic 1970s slot machine-themed game show The Joker's Wild?

Walt Disney created Mickey Mouse as a replacement for Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, a character he and Ub Iwerks had created for Universal Studios, which fired Disney when he demanded a larger budget for the Oswald series. In 2006, The Walt Disney Company regained the rights to Oswald from Universal.

To go one step further, NBC Universal got Al Michaels, the sports announcer from Disney in exchange for Oswald's rights.

Cliff "Ukulele Ike" Edwards, who provided the voice of Jiminy Cricket in "Pinocchio" and who's rendition of "When You Wish Upon A Star" has become an American icon also provided the voice of Jim Crow in "Dumbo" and sang "When I See An Elephant Fly"!

    It was the same guy.
