Re: Anyone still suffering from VMK Withdrawl?

Every time I hear Disney music or a song clip that was also from VMK, I get sad. Like the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea or the Epcot entrance music. I especially miss it around the holidays, they were always coming out with the best holiday items and I really LOVED the gingerbread stuff! Has anyone seen this site yet? It's the best tribute and reproduction of VMK. It's sad to see because it's empty, but it's a nice walk down memory lane. Scroll to the bottom and hit the ENTER button on the screen.

That would be soooo cool! But the person who made that said that he won't be making it like that sadly.

Yeah. He said that since he's not Disney he doesn't have the rights to make playable. He/they'd probably have to pay royalties or something.... Maybe they could get a sponsor?

Wait a sec... the VMK site, and everything VMK from Disney online is gone. Maybe they wouldn't have to pay royalties(or something)?

Re: Anyone still suffering from VMK Withdrawl?

It is against copyright laws to make it into a game.

It's against copyright laws even to do what is on that site right now. Hopefully, Disney won't issue a cease-and-desist letter.

As for myself, in many ways, I'm glad VMK is gone. We wasted too much time playing that game, and in some ways, it became a real life drag. Earning credits got to be a chore. We spent a ton of money directly or indirectly on the game. It made me feel compelled to do stupid things, like stay up late and log in from a hotel room in Paris to play VMK for half an hour so everyone could buy whatever they were selling that weekend. I like taking vacations now and not having to play an online game while we are gone. Oh, and I saved over $10,000 when we decided to cancel our Disney cruise because the kids were mad about VMK closing and wanted nothing to do with Disney for a few months. The trip to Hawaii that we took instead cost less than half as much.

As an added bonus, the loss of our time and money invested in VMK has caused us to sour on all MMORPGs, which is generally a good thing. They are addictive as crack.

Re: Anyone still suffering from VMK Withdrawl?

I'm not sure if this is true or not, but I read somewhere that Disney doesn't have copyrights on VMK anymore.

Something Disney said I think

Re: Anyone still suffering from VMK Withdrawl?

I Miss it Very much. I Just logged in again for the first time in a year. Wehaw! Anyways, I Am somewhat suffering and i Miss it as much as everyone else does. I've Started working on creating games and videos, and a Productions team now. When VMK Said it was a start of a new beggining. They ment it.

Re: Anyone still suffering from VMK Withdrawl?

When Disney canned VMK, I decided not to renew my Annual Pass, which I had held continuously for more than a decade. I bought a new AP from Costco around Christmas time and haven't used it yet. The one thing VMK did was get us to the park often. Now, we go only when we want to see other people who are going. So far, it's early March and other than drop my teenager off there a few times, we haven't gone at all.

Re: Anyone still suffering from VMK Withdrawl?

That's unfortunate that because of VMK, it's put a bad taste in peoples mouths about Disney. I still wholeheartedly adore everything Disney even though I am sad about the game. It's been almost a year and I'm still sad. It was a nice little escape from the norm at a place that replicated my most favorite place to go! What more could you ask for in a free, family friendly online game? I'm surprised that even though there was an outpouring of letters, emails and I'm sure phone calls from saddened fans, that VMK wasn't even considered to have another shot AT ALL. It's pretty sad when something brings so many people together in happiness and fun and has to end so abprubtly and without regard to the millions of people who enjoyed it. We miss you VMK!!
