DVMK Character creation

Im hoping someone has a good suggestion/solution for this:

I already have an account set up but when I try to give my character a name I keep getting an error stating that the character name needs to be between 4-18 characters long and only a-z.
I have tried their help section with no success. I know the game is in beta testing right now..but am I the only one having this problem ??
