Well! For starters i have a cheapo digital camera (sony cybershot 6.0). I use macro setting to shoot toys.

I have a white seamless backdrop on a desk with 4 lights on all sides. I use GE Reveal light bulbs (it takes out the yellow tint).

Then in photoshop I just adjust contrast and the white becomes pure white.

(for the photo you referenced, i had a clear stand propping torpedo up. it disappeared when i contrasted the white in photoshop)

Re: The Recent Toy Acquistion(s) thread

About 5 years ago I posted picture of my Apartment showing how I display all my stuff. I have been busy updated the place and am far enough along now to post some new pictures.

This is the way the Main Room North Side looked five years ago:

This is way it look today. You have to notice that not much has changed except the plush have grown along with some other changes:

This was the South Wall 5 years ago:

And this is the South Wall today. A lot of changes here:

Here are just some random shots around the Main Room today:

Those are some of my paper models from Trader Joe's site back in the corner.

Paper Models of the Haunted Mansions at Disneyland and WDW. The Phantom Manor is under construction now.

McFarlanes Dragons.

Dragon Display at night with the lights on. There are random flashing lights.

Another shot of the North Wall showing more of the front area.

The Kingdom Hearts Display.

New Sora in all his KH Forms and One Roxia action figures from Japan.

A shelf of Star Wars toys.

The Dragon Table with a Dragon Light.

A close up of McFarlane's Hydra Dragon. He is huge.

In the Harry Potter Magic Room I am just getting started, but I have some new things to show. This room will be completely redone within the next few weeks.

The Toner Dolls of Lord Voldemort and Draco Malfoy:

The new Neca Action Figures:

The Tonner Yule Ball Collection along with a lot of other stuff that in scale to the dolls.

And that's about it for this update. As soon as I change the Magic Room and add the Phantom Manor to the Paper Models, I will post an update.

UPDATE: More pictures in Post #34.

UPDATE #2: Added more and some new stuff Post #48

That is one of Trader Sam's Paper Model kits. It's available for download from his site, under paper models, at www.disneyexperience.com Almost all of the paper models are from that site. The Haunted Mansion are from www.haunteddimensions.raykeim.com/index301.html and there is a link from Trader Sam to that one as well.

There are two more that don't show up as they are lying down right now. One is Harry in Hogwarts Robes and Harry in full Quiditch uniform with scale broom. They will be standing again as soon as I have room to display all the HP stuff.

OK Lost boy.. how the HECK do you clean all of that?!

ALso, do you guys buy the action figures to play with or just for display?

Dustin (the hub) has two action figures... one of Morpheus sitting in his cool little chair and one really big ugly one of Spawn. He also still has a full set of the origional ninja turtle figurines! I love those ones.

That is an interesting question. I do open all of my purchases (other than the occasional one I buy for trading). I display them throughout my condo. There is even a 12 inch scale Hoth Han Solo on his TaunTaun on top of my Refrigerator. I figured that was the closest it would get to an actual Hoth.

I don't play with them like I did as a kid, when I would separate them into armies and have them shoot at each other while I make laser noises. I have been known to sit at my desk and manipulate them to get good poses for display.

I have quite a few Spawn figures myself and probably have the same one that Dustin has. Never got around to buying Matrix figures though, but I know the one you are talking about.

edit: here is a pic of the Han and TaunTaun I spoke of.

Holy crap! Is that a Darth Vadar cookie jar?!

*heavy breathing* "Luke... you ate... my cookie"

Hehe!

That's cool!

I've been babysitting for these two little girls and they have SO many toys.. but my favorite is thier train set! It's a little kid set, with big track pieces, but it's so much fun! I think I could seriously become addicited if I got into train buying.

Here's a picture (off of some site) of the Morpheus figure. He even has that little phone and its stand!

Yep, that is a Darth Vader cookie jar. It came with candy in it but could be used for that purpose. Interestingly, I do not store cookies in there. Mine go in the freezer to stay fresher. My Aunt and Uncle got it for me at Target. They usually have them around Christmas time in the candy aisle. I also got a Stormtrooper one from them too.

I have a Lionel train set at my parents house. it needs work.

I definitely remember that Morpeus figure. That was the one I was thinking of.

Re: The Recent Toy Acquistion(s) thread

LB, thanks for the link to all the paper models.

I did find the link a year ago for the castle in the following picture,
but I enlarged the size on a color photocopier, my castle is about 24" tall.
I used double sided tape for a good portion of the castle, but if you don't
enlarge the printouts, it would be very difficult to use tape. No wonder the
instructions advise to use tweezers!

Re: The Recent Toy Acquistion(s) thread

Thank you all, as for cleaning? Maybe twice a year I get in the mood to clean, but just the moving of all that Plush is very intimidating. It a real job but I don't leave the door open and it really doesn't get that dusty to fast. But it's just undergone a major rehab so it's nice and clean for now. Cleaned the carpets as well. I took some more pictures last night and will add them later today.
