I still wanna know... how do you guys dust those firguines without knocking everything over?! Do you implement a "no-shoe" rule or a "don't come in this room unless you're dirtless" rule? I would have dog hair and dust all over everything in two seconds flat!

Re: The Recent Toy Acquistion(s) thread

It takes time because in reality, you have to take each one separately into the kitchen and clean them very carefully with a static free duster, wet paper towels and then dry paper towels. Some of the smaller stuff can be done right where they are with the static free duster. Some never get cleaned as to pick them up would lead to a disaster, so they are lightly dusted with the duster as best I can. It takes about a week to get it all done.

And to answer another question, I do open all my toys and action figures because I want them on display or in a diorama. The Harry Potter Neca figures that are just sitting on a shelf right now will be used in two dioramas. The Graveyard scene from GOF and the final battle at the MOM in #5. That will come later this year.

Re: The Recent Toy Acquistion(s) thread

Ok, Here are some more pictures and close ups of models and dioramas.

First up a close up of DCA's TOT paper model. This needs landscaping and that's why you see trees laying on top of the roof. I need to pull this out and add grass and trees:

Next up it the Paper Model of "The Wicked Wench" pirate ship from POTC at Disneyland:

Paper Model of The Mark Twain from 3/4 front view:

And the Mark Twain from the back 3/4 view:

This is the Fantasmic Diorama with flash. This was modeled after the Fantasmic poster on sale at Disneyland:

And without flash:

The coolest item yet from The Harry Potter Noble Collection - The Mauraders Map in a custom wood case (closed):

and with the case open:

And the Map out of the case and opened to "normal" position:

And with the special hidden rooms portions opened:

This is the big Harry Potter Diorama taken with flash. This poor thing is falling apart and I really need to fix the front up and make sure it is more stable. The hidden lights in the rood are too heavy and it's all taped up right now.

And this is a double diorama. In front is the Defense Class that Lockheart did and in the back is the Chamber of Secrets with the giant Basalisk. Tom Riddle is in the back corner.

That's about it until I get other things done. Hope you like these "toys" and such.

Holy crap! Those are SO AWESOME, Lostboy! I remember doing diaramas when I was in school, but yours just rock my socks and make me want to do one!

How do the paper models work? Do you downlaod them, print them, glue them to cardstock, cut them out, assemble and glue them?!

Re: The Recent Toy Acquistion(s) thread

The Paper Models are on www.disneyexperience.com and there is a link there to the Haunted Mansion Paper models (and other HM related stuff). You download a set of instruction and model pages. These are PDF files so you need Acrobat Reader. If you don't haver that (but just about every computer does) there is a link to Adobe for the free download. Then you print the instructions out using normal paper, then print each model page out on cardstock. Then cut, fold and glue following the instruction guide. Sometimes you need toothpicks or dowels of differing sizes to make proper poles. I also have the Main Street Train Station down on the bottom shelf because it is huge. And two old time signs for Disneyland. His Paper Models are fantastic (as are Ray Kiems HM site) and it does take a certain amount of modeling skill and a lot of patience. Some of the parts are very small, so tweezers are a necessity.

Re: The Recent Toy Acquistion(s) thread

Slowly opening up more toys, here's a few more images.

Kashyyk Trooper from Star Wars Revenge of the Sith

Crimson Guard Commanders from G.I.Joe

And the Cobra Rattler Pilot, Wild Weasel.

I took other photos of other figures but they didn't turn out very good.

Had this as a kid, but I have no idea what happened to it. Picked up an identical replacement on ebay.

I hope you didn't pay too much for it! They recently made a new version of it that's more poseable that comes in a really cool box.
