    The NorCal Renaissance Faire 2005

    So who all is going?

We just went on Sunday and had a GREAT time!

My hubby was a very good sport about getting dressed up and coming with me, my three daughters and one of their friends. We all dressed up as royalty.

Since it's about a two hour drive to Casa de Fruta we watched "Ever After" on the way there and "The Princess Bride" on the way back. That definitely added to the mood of the day.

It was a gorgeous day and everything there was beautiful! So many colorful things to see. We all had pewter necklaces made with the first initials of our names...only $5.00 each. Alll of us but my hubby got our hair braided and decorated with flowers. We did the javelin and axe throws, the giant swing, the maypole, the maze and of course the ring thing (at Miss Christine's suggestion). The food was great as always...I had a gyro and some lusty wenches (aka chocolate covered strawberries)

I saw the most awesome purple wings and bought them to use as my accent piece for the ball I'm going to next weekend. One of my daughters bought a peasant dress and bodice and the other bought a really cool cape...they'll probably have to wait till next year to wear them..though we may go again this year since it was so much fun!

Aww. I miss the Renaissance Faire. It's been a couple years since I've gone. It's always tons of fun, especially trying to make the puritans smile (which, by the way, i did. I even got a laugh! )

I love going to faire. I go to all of them up here in Nor Cal. I was actually at Casa De Fruita last weekend. Maybe you saw me.. I carry around a huge scottish locabur (spelling) axe. Here's a pix of me in my Irish garb.

Never been to NoCal faire yet.

I used to work at SoCal, up until they lost their Devore site this year, and my vendor decided not to move to the new temporary locale, since they killed all the afterhours camping and activities.

They got rid of all the camping and after hours activities? That was half the fun about working faire. How are the merchants supposed to watch over thier stalls at night if they can't camp there?

I was also bummed when they got rid of the various guilds. I think that really hurt the atmosphere of the larger faires.

You should! My friend used to work that one (she might still) and she just loved it. It was really really popular! I never got to go and I do regret it!
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

They lost a LOT of workers and booths this year because of that. Workers had to camp about 7 miles away for $50 per site for the weekend.
How are the merchants supposed to watch over thier stalls at night if they can't camp there?
At the last minute, the city agreed to allow only 2 people per booth to camp at their booth. So, there still wasn't any afterhours events or atmosphere.
