What do you think people typically spend nowadays on a birthday gift for...

a child under 5 years old?

    a child from 6-11 years old ?

    a teenager?

Things have changed a lot since my three older kids were young so I'm just not sure any more.

Also, does anyone have any good ideas for a gift for a teenage boy?

A $15 or $25 iTunes gift card would be good teenagers.

When in doubt, ask them for suggestions.

It depends, is it your family or friends kids, or your kids friends? typically on my kids friends I spend 20.00 but if its family I ask the mom what she thinks the child wants (with in reason) teens these days love itunes cards, wii game cards etc.

Thanks gals. It is my daughter's friend who had the birthday and she gave him a $15 gift certificate to the local yummy yogurt shop. Hopefully that was enough since my daughter spent her own money on it.
