    What would match?

I need help figuring out what to match with this dress I just bought:

I got it from Mod Retro Indie Clothing & Vintage Clothes . I wanted something retro looking, but not super short (because I'm super tall). I bought it for my cousin's wedding in Montana this September (along with just having a good standby cute dress). Any ideas for what to go with it?

I'm thinking a black cardigan, but I soooo need other opinions! Thanks!

(And the reason why I'm asking this kinda' early is I work nights so I either need to buy online or plan sleep according to shopping times)

A black cardigan sweater won't really flatter the dress or your body. Boleros would work a lot better, both longed and short sleeved. They're shorter body wise so you can show off your attire but also help cover up shoulders if needed.

    Here are some examples:

    Long sleeved:

    Medium length sleeve:

    Black 3/4-Sleeve Bolero | Jackets & Vests

    Short sleeved:

What's great about these is that can pretty much go with anything, regardless of length. I know Target has some and pretty much any women's boutique/store in the mall.

    So pretty!
I agree with boleros or even jsut one of those scarf wrap type things. I jsut bought one at Macys for a wedding. IDK about online but in the store most of them were on sal or lcearence so I got a great deial.
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

A bolero would work, oh and pair it with some cute gold shoes if you can. and simple jewelry or none since the top is so blingy (is that a word?).

Depends on how "blingy" you want to be.

I LOVE the dress...very pretty. I'd wear it with thin, black hoop earrings, and just a pair of plain black pumps. Maybe a few thin, black bangles(on one wrist). But, if you feel you need a cover...how about a shawl or pashmina?

    Something like this..

    Re: What would match?

So I had a very big problem with the dress. Apparently the measurements I took before I bought it and after I got it were very different. I say that because I put it on and it made my top look flat and saggy (40 C with a hardworking bra. They couldn't be saggy). Then from the belly button down every single fat cell showed. Around the hips was beyond tight. And it was supposed to go down to right above my knees, which it did until I moved then it was in the butt. Oh and the top was sheer! So I had to return it. Argh! Went with the boring old black dress. Sorry for having this thread and then the dress not working.

This is why they make shapewear. It helps smooth you out and holds you in so you look good in nice dresses and stuff. I swear by it. There's tons of brands out there (Spanx, Control It, Flexees, Assets, Jockey, etc.) and different kinds of shapers (waist nippers, shaping camis, thigh/tummy slimmers, slips, full body shapers...).

    Pretty dress.

I have a black jacket I bought at Express that go with it very nicely. I'll take a picture later to show you.

I would wear sheer black stockings with the dress and some strappy black high heeled shoes.

I wanna see a picture of you all decked out!

    ^ Oops, my bad.

Sometimes I just read the beginning of threads so I can make my own opinion before reading others.

Knitting Knerd ...hope you find a better dress for the next big event.

Where does one purchase Spanx? I've had quite a few women ask for it at my shop (I work at Urban Outfitters) and I had no clue what they were talking about! I'd like to know so I can send them somewhere appropriate.

Lane Bryant has a good selection of spanx and I think Torrid carries some styles as well.

Target carries the unfancy/generic version and I found out QVC has a whole line.

Always best to buy dresses (and other clothes) in a store. You can try it on and decide if it works for you. A picture is really hard to go by, even if you do measurements (as you found out).
Mom, remember, it's not what a person is like on the outside that counts,
it's what they are like in their HEART!
