I still feel that the story was exaggerated and misleading. I don't think the underwear was actually worn or "used." I think it was just bought and then returned maybe because the person decided they had paid too much for it or maybe because the person decided it wasn't the right size. Who knows? If you wash it after you buy it, what is there to worry about? People buy clothes at flea markets , garage sales, and used clothing stores all the time. They buy swimsuits to that have probably been worn.

I don't purchase clothing at any of those places and although I do own a bathing suit I know it was not tried on prior....however, I don't think I have ever worn it. I don't like bathing suits.

So, I had one in case we had company come over to swim, but that never happens. I'm ready though.

    Hmmm...I don't know.

There were several cases where the store employees were "re-tagging" the merchandise. While far from proof, the removal of a tag is a pretty strong indicator of a person's intent to wear the product.

Either way, there are many stores out there that won't take returns of any items that they deem an undergarment, whether it be a swimsuit, underwear, brassiere, or any other item that would normally touch naked genitalia.

It's always a pretty good policy to wash clothing items before wearing them, but retailers should not be reselling returned undergarments and claiming they are new (if they were marked as used and sold as such that would be a different matter altogether) . They have no way of knowing if the items were worn, nor who wore them, or what sort of disease or germs they might be carrying.
