Shoes, do you buy them for looks or how they feel?

what makes a great shoe ? what shoe would you choose to wear every day ? what shoe do you end up buying because of work, and or comfort? and if money was no object what shoe would you love to own?

Re: Shoes, do you buy them for looks or how they feel?

It depends on the shoe. I bought some awesome 3½" stillettos a few weeks ago... I showed them to a guy friend and he said, "Those look painful!" Actually they're not.. quite comfortable actually. But I've tried on shoes that have killed my feet from the getgo.. those stay on the store shelf.

So usually comfort wins over looks for me most the time but I always try to find shoes that look killer but are easy on the tootsies too.

I work at a home office, so I run around barefoot all day. Unless it's cold, then I wear the slippers I bring with me.

If money were no object, I've seen several pairs of Steve Madden, Jimmy Choo and Chinese Laundry shoes I would love to own.

this is so funny as I bought croc's and love them! I know they are ugly, I know they look stupid, but man I can not tell you how comfortable they are.
So for me, comfortable at all costs is what I look for.

i guess it's both for me. even if i love how a shoe looks, i won't buy them if they hurt. plus, the price has to be right!

For me it's comfort, I couldn't care less how they look (well within reason) as long as they are comfortable. When your feet hurt you are miserable. Oh, and on sale is always a plus.

    I'm currently lusting after these:

I would not be caught dead in a pair of Crocs, but I do like comfortable shoes - they just have to be cute too. I own these:

Looks or comfort? Why , both, of course! They gotta look good but they also gotta feel good. And belive it or not, I prefer heels to flats. And I am 5'7 so heels make me about 5'10. Oh, and I gotta be able to dance in them!

With the width of my feet, my shoe options are pretty limited. I may have to visit the Mall to try the Dansko shoes. The website says that they will fit almost any width.

Re: Shoes, do you buy them for looks or how they feel?

    Oh I love shoes.....

I agree, they have to be cute (ok except my tennis shoes, but they are soooo comfy...)

but for all my other shoes, they have to be HOT, I prefer heals, and I love open toe strappy shoes.

and they have to be comfortable (relativly) If they hurt in the store I won't buy it, but if I can walk thru the store...if they are HOT, if I love them and can afford them...I will buy them...

I will wear shoes that hurt (but not everyday, when I get dressed up....)

I know I know but if they look good, well I'll just soak my feet later that night...

so yeah It counts on looks, comfort (to an extent), and price...

if money is no object...I want Prada, and Manalo Blaniks (sp)

oh heck I just love shoes...........

Re: Shoes, do you buy them for looks or how they feel?

I have difficult feet. 13 years of ballet did bad things to my poor feet. I followed that with a good 10 years of vintage stilletos and other monstrosities. So, now, at 43, I have wide feet with super high arches and pantars fasciatis. My days of stilletos are over - and it is probably for the best.

I go for comfort and try to add a modicom of style to it. I wear Fluevog, Sanita, Dansko, Munro, Ecco, Puma, Sofft and Sudini - and whatever else I can find. Heels are the most difficult issue since it is REALLY hard to find great looking heels that fit and are comfortable. I think I need to become a shoe designer. It's really difficult to be wearing a great Anthropologie outfit and not have compatable shoes.

Nordstroms and Zappos are my shoe venues of choice. At least I can search on Wide and not be distracted by all of the cute shoes I just can't wear.
