Kids really don't trick or treat in their neighborhood let alone within their own apartment building.

There's a middle school directly across the street and for years now, no one has come. I wonder if my street having a name from Psycho has anything to do with it? Lol!!

We have a few trick or treaters, but I'm usually working and Sean won't hand out candy on his own... plus we really hate the neighborhood we live in, and are more concerned about keeping our animals indoors and our property not getting vandalized than about handing out candy.

My smooth shift has gotten a bit hectic! We have a patient bleeding after heart surgery - no bueno.

At the same time I'm telling dosing to the nurse for this super rare drug my ER friend came down to bring my a cookie. I felt bad I couldn't chat with him, but at least he understands that emergencies take priority over visits, even if they're less fun.

Sounds like here too. Yet another reason we can't put decorations out.

Yep on the decorations - I've put pumpkins out once and was surprised they weren't smashed. I was afraid any other decorations would be stolen or destroyed.

    I can't wait to move.

Re: OMG! Let's Talk On Lion!!

Normally I would be starting my week off today, but I work one more night tonight due to taking time off for DL. Hopefully work is kind to me one more night, then I can enjoy my 6 days off!

I still need to unpack... and have a lot of chores to do during my time off, but I'm still looking forward to it!

Re: OMG! Let's Talk On Lion!!

I love halloween. It's my favorite holiday. I trick or treated until I was 15 and my neighbors let me get away with it - because my costumes were stellar!

Back East, the kids still trick or treat in their own neighborhoods. Granted, their parents wait at the curb in cars now and often - if the days are staggered with nearby towns/cities - they will hit up more than one area.

While I find the cars lazy and cheating, if I were a kid and it was cold, I'd like a warm car to sit in between streets too. LOL. In Texas we had a TON of kids from our development and the two next to it. I'm one of the "cool" people and dress up to hand out candy AND let them take a whole handful. Last year I was a pirate and would yell out the door "Who wants some of me candy booty?"

Year before that, I was a witch with an italian inspired bird mask and my husband dressed in warlock robes. I'd stand up on the porch (in black light and fog) holding the bowl and being very, very still. Randall was in the bushes. When they'd get close, I'd crane my neck all bird-like to look at them. I got more jumps from people who thought I was a mannquin than he did from jumping out to scare them. LOL.

As for the pets, the cats were kept in a spare room and the dogs were in the backyard.

I'll have to dig up the cookie recipe and post it, or just mail out samples.

My costumes usually suck. I'm too cheap to spend a lot of money on them and too hopeless with sewing to make something cool. Cutting holes in a sheet and being a "ghost" usually represents my sewing ability.

Awesome costumes!! I kinda miss handing out candy, but the last time we were home for Halloween and kids were trick or treating, I was on the couch watching Halloween and didn't wanna be interrupted every 5 minutes haha.

It was fairly calm at work. Until the last 10 minutes. The worst way to leave work is when you are absolutely furious. Anyways I am home now.

Kelly, watch out for those 50 foot giant scorpions in your neighborhood!!

Amanda, my street's name is Bates and if you go down far enough, there's an abandoned piece of property that used to be a seedy looking inn. True story!!

Re: OMG! Let's Talk On Lion!!

That's awesome!! I was trying to think of a few more obscure names it could have been and came up with nothing lol. It's really too bad they don't shoot that show on the original set; apparently they film in Canada a mile and a half from the U.S border. I'm gonna nerd out one of these days and drive up there.
