Re: OMG! Let's Talk On Lion!!

A gassy baby is an unhappy baby, and since it's my baby it totally breaks my heart when she cries from discomfort. Luckily, everything I've read promises me that it's harder on the parents than it is on the baby... I'm choosing to believe that since it makes me feel better.

Blah. And good luck on your tattoo fix. I have one I got when I was 21. It really needs some recoloring - the teals and greens have faded a bit and I'd like to add a small amount of blacklight white or pink in the dragon section. I'll post a photo of it.. eventually. LOL. It's a Faerie Dragon on my lower back.
The plate didn't come back to the same type of car, so my guessing is that it had stolen plates. I got to watch the video today when I got to work. It was so much worse than the victim and I realized in the moment. Loss Prevention was in and looked at the video and they believe the kid was on some kind of drug given that he was maybe 5'4" and was able to leave a hand print on her arm, spin her around, then hit her as hard as he did. She's not a small lady. I told the manager that I want security in the store, a raise, and permission to carry and use mace if it comes to it. The paperwork for my raise will be going through soon, and I have permission to carry mace. The security part isn't totally in our control, but they agree with me.

holy crap, Amanda, that's so scary!! What a sick jerk that guy is!
Oh yeah, very scary. A young man came in today that looked just like the 3rd scumbag that I hadn't seen til I saw the footage. All the color went out of my face. The manager agreed that we thought it was him. Casey, the cutie younger employee stuck to me like flies on poopie til the guy left. He asked if I was ok, I said no and said I needed to get away as soon as I was done with what I was doing. The store manager confronted the kid, turned out it wasn't him. But it was very scary. I got through the day though, hopefully things will change now.

I'm glad they are giving you a raise and are letting you carry mace. I know many retail pharmacists and techs who carry mace, pepper spray, even firearms due to the fact that they have essentially no security on that setting. People are screwed up these days.

We got Sophia some fancy new bottles, and that along with some anti gas medicine seems to be helping. I hope she grows out of the has issues soon!

It is heartbreaking when someone you love is in pain or uncomfortable. You are such a good mommy, I'm sure the bottles and medicine help and hopefully she will outgrow it quickly.

Amanda, that is so scary! I'm glad you got a raise and mace and hopefully some security will come through for you guys.

Thanks guys, the raise hasn't come through yet, but my boss says all he has to do is print the paperwork and do a little review yadda yadda then it's done. We've had our loss prevention lady every day since the incident looking for shoplifters. She caught 5 yesterday. She has the right to manhandle them, so things get taken care of with her around. She takes them to the back, photographs them, bans them from the store and escorts them out. I'd assume there's a fine or something involved too but I don't know for sure. So hopefully she'll take the info she's gathered and petition for a full time security team.

And Kelly, I'm glad Sophia's doing better! It has to be tough not being able to do anything but wait for it to pass.

I hope you all have better holidays than me - won't get a day off until Sunday.

someone here at work suffered a horrible accident where their car flipped over. Fortunately no major injuries but it's not like they're unscathed either.

On a lighter note, extended family is scrambling to buy a present for an 8 yr. old. Pssh! They should have asked me first and I would have already got something like a TMNT Mikey and MLP Rainbow Dash, lol!

I'm sorry! I work all day tomorrow and Thursday, off Friday, then working overnight Saturday. Not sure about Sunday yet since the schedule isn't out yet. I suppose I should go down there today and see if it's up and also find out what the dress code is for tomorrow. I don't wanna show up in uniform to find out that I could have come in whatever I wanted. We used to be able to wear whatever we wanted, but with a new manager, I don't want to chance it.

Gotta love waiting til the last minute to get something. I only missed one person on my list but it's not entirely my fault. Melissa knew what it was and where I could find it, but she only knew how to get there. Couldn't tell me how to get there or anything, so he's just gonna wait til after Christmas because I'm not going out to goodness only knows where today.

I'm sorry Amanda, that work schedule isn't much better.

I think some of the family were planning on a Disney Park visit this weekend, lol! They have NO idea at all what massive crowds would await them

Thank you! She seems to be doing much, much better. Only the occasional sign of discomfort. She's taking after her dad with needing the fancy stuff... Oh well, these bottles are worth every penny if they make her feel better!

5 shoplifters already?! Holy cow! It seems like it would be a good investment for them to up the security. Sheesh.

I'm glad she's doing better too! Here's to hoping it stays that way.

Ugh that work schedule is a bummer. This is a bad time of year for accidents and such, people are distracted and overwhelmed. I saw one of my coworkers posted that her best friend just passed away... I have no idea what happened, and her friend is my age and looks like she had a husband and young boy judging from her Facebook photo. So sad.

I just got back from running to Michael's for a frame for my parents and to Wal-Mart (the grocery store version of it, not a full on Wal-Mart... I wouldn't DARE go near one today) to grab a couple things I need to make a cheesecake for my dad and to make some mozarella-stuffed venison meatballs. Both were not too busy at all! It was the first time I didn't wait in line at that Wal-Mart, they actually had Self Checkout operating AND there was an employee actually working to help with any issues. I don't understand why they can't always have it that way... Michael's was empty. It's next to a Target - THAT parking lot didn't look fun!

Re: OMG! Let's Talk On Lion!!

Yeah, hopefully we'll be getting security soon. On an entire other rant, my AAA card still hasn't shown up. I renewed it in Oct. after years of not having one. By mid November and still no card, I emailed them. They said 7-10 business days and I'll have it. That was December 4th. I can't seem to get a human being on the phone, haven't since the whole thing started. So I sent yet another email saying I still don't have one and deeply regret bothering to renew since they don't seem to care whether or not I can actually use their services since they already have my money.

Re: OMG! Let's Talk On Lion!!

Kelly, so sorry about your friend's friend. Kind of puts things in perspective.

I have a grocery Walmart just blocks away from work and they have 4 self checkout stands.

Amanda's situation with AAA sounds like my in limbo order from Walmart.com (notice a recurring theme? ) ordered a Disney infinity Rapunzel 2.5 weeks ago. Have tried calling them to inquire but every time I get an "all operators are busy" and then a minute later, get automatically disconnected. How is anyone to get through?

They finally email mail me back today and if it doesn't arrive today, they owe me a $25 card. Of course I'd have to set foot in a WM then rather than deal with their order system.

and yes, the Rapunzel is really for me so it's not like I need it to give as a present.

Yikes!! Yeah, I've about had enough with AAA. I don't want to go down to the local office and get upset since it's not at all their fault.

Re: OMG! Let's Talk On Lion!!

Getting off work yesterday, I felt bad for my fellow cast members. Our store was pretty bare bones - shipment only offered a few of the items we've desperately needed for weeks. Guests were in their "Me me me" zone and getting ticked off that we didn't have the exact last minute gift they needed. Ticked off that the sale we had for the last 3 weeks was no longer going on this week. Ticked off that that plush was on clearance this this one wasn't. Just Bah Humbug all over the place.
My last 30 minutes was spent on an 8' ladder and lugging the ladder from place to place, carefully, to put up some new signage. As a backstage CM, I had no nametag, no hat and wear all black - like theatre staff. It was like they didn't even see the fact that I had a heavy ladder in my arms with all the stopping me and questions. I didn't mind answering, but that ladder was getting harder to hang onto. LOL. And then they often didn't like my "No, I'm terribly sorry, we don't have anymore Animator Dolls in the back. What we have left is out. No, they are no longer on sale for $15." Sour faces all over.
Sometimes I wonder if all they need is a hug.

I did get a few smiles from my ladder use, since I could pop it up and reach a few very high items that guests were looking at. So there was that. I just don't get the whole "last minute shopping" thing. If I have a friend or family member who decides to show up or didn't give me a proper list until late - they're getting gifts AFTER the holiday.. when they're on sale.
