Momentary hang-up...

Yesterday I was thinking about somebody. I should be thinking about her. But I was. Haven't seen her or spoken to her in 6 years.

Googled her name. Found a website where she talks about her spirituality. Her professed beliefs echo my actual ones quite nicely and it's sad she doesn't live up to them.

I had hopes and that sort of hasn't gone away. Not tied to her; that much is clear. It's almost disappointing that things fizzled and trailed off. Might have been better to have a high-drama blow-out and a decisive end. That's what I get for avoiding relational drama.

Thinking about her leads me to think about two friends who are lost to me; both through religion. That makes me sad.

Just needed to get that out.

Re: Momentary hang-up...

I'm sorry you have been beset by the "might have beens". I suffer from that myself from time to time. You know, how things "might have" or should have been different.

I was on the phone saturday with someone I've known for over twenty years. Some thing she said about an aquaintance beliefs made me realize, after all these years, she knows nothing about me and my way of life. Even though it shouldn't, it hurts.

Things happen for a reason though, there must be some reason she's being brought to mind.

I've sort of been caught in an eddy lately and I certainly hope I'm ready to move into an actual future. If not now, then darn soon.

I know better than to get caught up in this. It's been a couple of days now and I'm feeling better.

Re: Momentary hang-up...

This happens to everyone I think. Ya see something, or hear something, or smell something, and it instantly transports you to the memories of a person you may have been friends with, or dated, or whatever.

It happens to me all the time. I smell Bulgari and think of one guy, then hear a song by Kylie Minogue and think of another. All good memories.

There were times in the past that I would think of what things would be like if a friendship or relationship were rekindled, whatever the case may be. Better judgement gets ahold of me and I remember we broke up for a reason.

Just know its normal to have these "flashbacks" for lack of a better term. It's all a part of life

Re: Momentary hang-up...

I was a could've been and after 13 years, I got an e-mail. He had searched me down through Classmates.com and subscribed so he could apologize for how stupid and mean he was - frankly, I could have cared less. It was high school and again, 13 years later! I wrote him back and said thanks for apologizing, but that's about it - I had no desire to "explore" it further.

Sometimes, it's just better to leave the past alone.
