People have a right to disagree with any concept here on this board. However, expect to get feedback about your ideas - whatever they are. This is a discussion board after all.
Now, when you respond to a persons ideas on a personal level (ie: calling them names, unflattering comparissons, etc) the line of acceptability has been crossed.
When responding to another poster- especially to a hot topic - try to keep your posts in the "I" sense......I disagree.......I feel......I prefer.......I like etc. and stay away from the accusitory "you" posts.
True, and it might just be me but I don't send negative rep to people I disagree with, hell if I did that I'd get carpel-tunnel from all the typing
I tend to use it (very sparingly) for personal attacks, gross trolling or similar uses.

Again, the whole concept of a discussion board is to discuss topics. Not everyone is going to agree with you and, more than likely, there will be someone who offends you at some point. I would hope that people would use the reputation system to discourage rude responses and not just responses they don't agree with. But, that's the personal choice of the poster.

I'm totally still trying to get this whole "rep" thing. Now I just got my first bad onebut hey, I'm still learning. And I did apologize! Ok, time to leave my computer for a few and go outside!

I don't give negative rep just because I disagree with someone. I give negative rep when someone uses hate speech, is troll baiting or in other ways trying to undermine the board or community. That is what the rep is for. I wish that people weren't so afraid to give out the negative rep.
