Question Do any of you gals have a self-cleaning oven?

Have you ever used your self-cleaning oven? I'm using the self-cleaning process right now and it's stinking up my house. P U! I had to open the windows LOL!

I have never used it in over 2 years. My oven looked dirty with grease. EeeK! I'll probably end up wiping it up once it's done. I'll see how well it self-cleans itself and let you know what happened.

Yes, and yes, it will stink up the house. I usually pick a day when it is nice enough outside to have all the doors and windows open.

It's sounds like you have an untouched "self cleaning" fridge as well. I bet the cheese has been in there for 2 years too.

I have one, I would rather clean it by hand I hate the smoke and the smell. and my oven isn't ever really dirty!

I love mine. It seals up pretty well so it isn't too bad. Then I just wipe out the few ashes on the bottom and that's it.

Funny I should find this because I just this week used mine for the first time!!! It did stink, but, I turned on the exhaust fan and since the oven wasn't too bad, it wasn't overwhelming.

Those suckers stink like crazy! We'll put it on when we know we have yardwork to be done, and make sure that all windows are open.

My oven isn't that high tech but that's good information to know when/if I get one!

I'm pretty sure we have a self-cleaning oven, but I've never used it. Easy-Off is simple to use, and doesn't take much time at all.

Re: Do any of you gals have a self-cleaning oven?

My oven came out sqeaky clean. I only had to wipe up the ash residue.

Looks like I'll keep up this process every 6months or so.

It smells every time I use it, but its worth it.

Re: Do any of you gals have a self-cleaning oven?

No, we have a kickin' old stove. But we never use the oven, anyway.

OK, here is my self-cleaning oven story:
When I was young, 10 or 12 or whatever, my grandparents got a new stove. So, I went to bake a frozen pizza. I put it in the oven, pushed the little lever over, set the timer and joined everyone else in the living room.

Awhile later my mom says, "What smells like it's burning?" Turns out that lever was to turn on the self-cleaning oven. Luckily we caught it before too much damage was done i had no idea! i thought that was how the over door latched or something.
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...
