    Hair color: Favorite dye job

I am going to the beauty college this week because one of my friends is studying there and I hear she does amazing color... and I have to take advantage before she graduates.

So, for those of you who have dyed your hair every color of the rainbow... and even those who haven't... is there a certain color you have always wanted to dye your hair?

Haha. And I have done the pink thing before.

I've always wanted a honey brown, but my hairdresser said it wouldn't look right on me.

Re: Hair color: Favorite dye job

In 2000, on a whim, we decided to bleach my hair platinum blond and buzz it off. My brother did this for me....as he'd done his own before.

Well, suffice to say, I didn't like it......so I let it 'stay' for a week and then I dyed it brown.

Here's the problem. When you have platinum blond hair putting a dark brown dye on it a week after the fact doesn't work well. In fact, my hair came out a deep shade of black/purple. In a room, it looked black - outside, INTENSE PURPLE.

It eventually grew out - and I was mortified - but others thought it was cool..........

I can't imagine having intense purple hair!

The only color I've dyed my hair is red (various shades). I like the color more subtle, not too intense. I wouldn't mind trying to lighten up the brown of my hair - but never blond/platinum, it wouldn't look good on me (unless maybe in highlights).

Well, we bleached the heck out of my hair - and it was long and curly....and my brother said that it looked like popcorn or like the Eloi in "The Time Machine" with Yvette Mimieux - and that I couldn't possibly leave it like that - so we buzzed it off.......I think had a I been thinner - as I am now - and had I had maybe an earring or two and maybe a tattoo, I could've left the hair alone - but it just wasn't becoming on me. Dying it back to brown where it ended up purple wasn't too too bad since it was a buzz cut........had it been longer, that wouldn't been horrible - and would've caused me to buzz it off.....

    Anyway, live and learn!

Black with fire engine red streaks.

But I've dyed my hair black... never again. It is the absolute hardest color to get out of your hair after you get bored with it. Your options are to either bleach it out and then dye it, or just let it grow out. I ended up doing the former for the most part. I now dye my hair light golden brown, but I still have a couple patches of black that haven't grown out yet. Hopefully they will be by the end of the year.

I loooved being a redhead, but it's a really hard color to maintain. My 2 favorite shades were burgundy and almost fire engine red. The latter was a color Herbal Essences used to make called Red Desert. Sadly they don't make it anymore. My musician friends all loved it and it's actually the color my hair was when I met my BF almost 7 years ago.

I enjoy having red hair, and really anyone can pull it off as long as it's the right shade.

Hey, I accidentally died my hair purple once, too! I guess it was really more of a dark magenta. I was working at a middle school at the time and the kids loved it. My husband said he liked it, too. After a week or so it faded to a really dark brown. My hair is usually red but I dyed it black a couple of years ago. I got very mixed reactions. Everyone either loved it or hated it. No one thought it was alright. I think blue would be fun.

hmmm. I would love to do it a nice shade of red...but, my hair is really thin, and that wouldn't work. Right now, I've been trying to do it brown...but, no matter how many times I dye it brown, it fades. Goes back to dark blonde. I think I will give up.

My hair is already really really dark. (Lighter in the summer though)
I just want bright red highlights or tips.
    Or hot pink..
    Or neon green

I loved my hair when it was black with red highlights. The only problem was that the red would fade out and look orange.
