 | Disneyland planning second theme park in Hong Kong - report Disneyland planning second theme park in Hong Kong - report 09.13.2005, 09:52 PM HONG KONG (AFX) - Disneyland is planning to build a second theme park in Hong Kong, The Standard reported citing the company's chairman George Mitchell. Reclamation work has already begun near the theme park, Mitchell said. 'Eventually, the addition of an entire new theme park adjacent to the current park will transform the site into a true multi-day destination resort,' he said. The report also quoted Financial Secretary Henry Tang as saying that the government expects construction of the second phase to start as early as 2010. The paper said the first phase is expected to draw 5.6 mln visitors in its first year and create 18,000 jobs. It is expected to generate revenue of 148 bln hkd over 40 years. | Re: Disneyland planning second theme park in Hong Kong - report I am deeply concerned that Disney is repeating all the same mistakes it made in Paris. Paris got its second park, but was a complete disappointment. Let's see if HK Disneyland is a financial success before starting on a new park.

What is this about Disney that deludes them into making 1/2 and 3/4 day parks and instead of adding to them, adding disappointing second gates? Do they ever learn? Although, the quote by George Mitchell may have been taken partially out of context. Yes, Disney may be planning a second gate in the future, but that's not the same as saying 'We'll be starting on construction of Disney's Hong Kong Movie Adventure Park in the second quarter of 2007." | |
