Re: Expansion deal reached on Hong Kong Disneyland-report

方案會由迪士尼獨力注資約70億元,扣除23億元作償還市場借貸及10億元作循環信貸備用額,約40億元用 作興建3個新樂園區,

Within the HK$7 billion, HK$2.3 billion is to repay debts and HK$1 billion is for a rotating loan. The remaining HK$4 billion is for the actual expansion.

Re: Expansion deal reached on Hong Kong Disneyland-report

It should be like that:
WDC will invest HK$7 billion,
HK$7b - HK$2.3b (repay debts) - HK$1b (so-called 'rotating loan'? I dunno) = HK$3.7 billion (actual investment on expansion)

Therefore, TWDC will invest HK$3.7 billion on the park

And the HK Government will invest HK$6.1 billion at most. Of course not the whole 6.1b will be put in the park.

Therefore the expansion plan could cost from HK$3.7b - HK$9.8b

I will believe any of this when I actually see it being built.

I thought I was the big pessimist.

In just a few years HKDL will have a hi-tech Haunted Mansion, a ToonTown full of unique advanced rides, a Pirateland with a Skull Mountain, a Grizzly Mountain in a land based on northern wilderness...
and a Toystory ride!

Re: Expansion deal reached on Hong Kong Disneyland-report

We will have to wait! Hopefully they actually announce something and its not just another false alarm.

I wouldn't be to upset if a Frontierland is never added, and they focus only on Adventureland. Adventureland is soo large I don't know how they would include a Frontierland.

Sorry to be pessimist but Eisner's Disney Decade back in the early 90's made me be this way.

Sorry Eisner let you down, TDLFan. But there's a big difference between what Eisner promised and this rumor/news: the Disney Decade was Eisner's words, and this is $$$. If Eisner had set aside $3 billion or something for Disney park expansion, I might have believed it.

Interestingly, I the rumor I first heard in this thread was repeated by another of other sources around the internet. It mentions an expansion of Adventureland (Haunted Mansion?) and the addition of arctic- and wilderness-themed lands. But like Eisner, I'm not promising anything.

These are all things that has been posted, mentioned and "confirmed" by people that have not had all info about the park that they should have had.
NOTHING has been confirmed when it comes to new lands and rides.

Whatever they do it will take about 3-5 years to build.

Re: Expansion deal reached on Hong Kong Disneyland-report

its more like 2 to 3 years. Construction is penciled in to start this year with parts of it opening by 2011 if all plans pan out as they are hoping they will

Re: Expansion deal reached on Hong Kong Disneyland-report

There's little doubt that something will be built at HKDL and that all involved (Disney and the Chinese government) know that this park needs to be expanded to compete not just with other local Hong Kong attractions but with the new Disney park being built in Shanghai as well (which will be much bigger and has a much larger budget than HKDL did or does).

The cities/regions of Hong Kong and Shanghai compete with each other for big business, trade, conventions, and tourism and to some degree so will the two Disney parks in those cities. While Shanghai is being built on a much larger scale, there seems to be recognition that Hong Kong will need to scale up to hold its own and prevent a further decline in attendance.

I am hopeful that they are making the right decisions in regard to this expansion, but the limited budget has me concerned.
