Re: HKDL Expansion concept art!!!

I'm laughing that people are complaining about the WDS' TSL is not good at HKDL unless it has TSMM. So we're rejecting one clone for another? LOL! Don't even try to justify that.

Maybe a majority. But there are those who are unable to do "rides" and turn to alternative attraction experiences. It may also be a cultural thing like everyone on the boards keeps bickering about getting wet or not.

And when people say XYZ ride doesn't belong in the park.. I'll all point you to is Dumbo, Carousal, and the tea cups.

The ride system isn't what makes or breaks a Disney attraction, its what they do as a package that makes it work or not.
People keep forgetting this. And it doesn't just stop with Fantasyland attractions.

Mystic Point should have been where Grizzly Mountain is, that way the transition from Adventureland wouldn't be right into the American north woods. Plus, I would think the Toy Story universe would mesh better with the Grizzly stuff, since they could play up the Woody/cowboy angle at the transition point. Oh well, I'm still not overly negative about these additions, they are at least something new for the park. I am most excited by what they will do with the new Mystic Manor concept. It's a blend of Pooh's Hunny Hunt/Aquatopia, the TDS Tower of Terror storyline, and the classic Haunted Mansion. Sounds awesome to me! I wonder if they will even use Harrison Hightower, or invent a totally new explorer?
I love the idea of going outside the berm. Something totally different. Mickey's Toontown and Critter Country happened. The Discovery Bay concept was going to be outside the berm as well. Ideas never die. Speaking of CC, HKDL wouldn't have a dead end path like so many readers here complain about.

From the satellite image it does look like there is room there. I'm not sure how recent that image is, but still.

I don't have an issue with the Toy Story land per se', it could be HKDL's toontown, it's fine. But it should attach more to Fantasyland than Adventureland.
Totally agree. TSL is likely influenced from TS3, like a previous post mentioned.

TSL would fit the toy/fantasy/child atmosphere of IASW and Fantasyland better than the Woody-Frontier transition.

And I agree Mystic Pointe and Grizzly should be switched considering MP uses the "jungle" theme. But I don't know what the physical restrictions are if there is any.

Why does a new land have to have ALL conceptualized (sp?) attractions open? Did HM and POTC open with NOS? Bear Country just had CBJ then renamed with SM's opening. I'm not very familiar with the DHS park, but I think a Pixar Place land only opened with TSMM with planned additions on the drawing boards. Toon Studios in WDSP is the only new "land" that opened after a park's initial opening with more than one attraction, but this is more on the level of TSL and Bugs land. I suspect and hope that other ideas come to pass in the MP and Grizzly lands in HKDL's future years after they initially open.

As far as the layout and land sizes go -- the lands look like they are more on the scale of the world showcase pavilions at epcot, so you have a small magic kingdom on one side, and a small imaginary world showcase on the other.

Angry Soarin over China--DUH!

I guess I'm alone in not hating the Toy Story Land, except that each of the three lands seems too small. TTT's right, there should only two lands in that small space, or better yet just one, so guests feel more fully immersed in another place.

And I try to be polite on Disney Web sites, but
I am stunned at the stupidity of not adding a "Soarin' Over China." I would want to go to Hong Kong to ride that, and people (in this case the Chinese) seem to like seeing their homelands celebrated on film--at least Americans do. How long did the 360 Circlevision film "America the Beautiful" run at Disneyland? And this Soarin' could be in a China themed land, which for Chinese might feel the way Main Street feels for Americans.

Happy 4th of July, by the way.

I agree looks to me like world showcase size mini-lands. Only if they had some version of splash in this exansion in its own land why not do it now.

If that's the case, then the expansion have less than 15 attractions as HKDL already have 28 attractions.

And I'll third that. Good point, Dr. J. EPCOT is about nations all co-existing happily side-by-side in an unrealistic, cozy neighborhood. But a "land" at a Disneyland/Magic Kingdom castle park should be about immersing oneself in other place. Sure it's plastic and devoid of some of the interesting challenges that make travel to other (non-faux) cultures more interesting and educational, but at least it's impressive. These proposed mini-lands remind me of seven ounce beers that were briefly sold at supermarkets 22 years ago, and it reminds me of my own pathetic, vertically challenged basketball career. It's a "LAND," not a strip mall!

TimmyTimmyTimmy, I think you are wrong. The Quote below is taken from the document submited to the LEGCO.

Quote:
Add three new themed areas, namely "Grizzly Trail", "Mystic Point" and "Toy Story Land" (working titles, see site plan, graphical images and brief descriptions attached). There will be more than 30 new attractions, including "thrill" rides targeted at the young adult segment, bringing the total number of attractions in HKD to over 100.

Re: HKDL Expansion concept art!!!

Look at it this way, at least they're getting some extra attractions. They could have spent the money on a doing the Esplanade first. OK, so a DTD would be a good idea for the resort, but that's only going to be worthwhile when there are more visitors.

Their is future expansion below the Grizzly land. It is said to be a future expansion if the new lands are sucsessfull, its probably going to be used as a Frontierland.
